it was 37C here yesterday - I was very sweaty by the time I got home. But at least I still had feeling in my fingers...

    How was the ride?

Next question: would you substitute riding in -4 for driving in -4? Or does the experience of the ride outweigh the cold?

Wasn't too bad. Mainly on the look out for Black Ice.

Coldest I have ever ridden? -12C

If I had the choice, I'd have taken the cage, but I didn't have the choice. Daughters car broken so she took the wife's and the wife took mine. If there is no threat of Ice/Water/Snow in the winter, in summer I ride regardless. I could care less how low the temp is. I dress for it.

ive gotta say that i do prefer riding in the cold rather than the heat... although being from sydney, i dont really know what the cold is... the lowest temp ive probably ridden in would be about 15C

people used to tell me that riding on a stinking hot day really isnt that bad cos you have the wind blowing against you.... i quickly found out that was a crock ... especially with leathers and all on.... well... thats my opinion anyway...

I agree with chiangstar. In summer especially at 28 degrees celsius plus temperatures in full gear it gets very hot. I often come off the bike with wet hands and shoulders, and not cause of the rain!

Haha I used to do that bigkev, as in jeans and a t-shirt. But not the singlet and shorts. Most of the girls I know think it looks really gay when I guy is in shorts on a sportsbike and I agree that it is the most dangerous thing you can do too.

really? youve never ridden down to the beach in just a singlet and shorts on a hot day and jumped in the water? me and my mates used to do it all the time. then when your shorts dry off u jump back on and ride home.

Full textile gear Spring, Fall and Winter, same for summer except jeans for around town. Trips and spirited riding call for full gear, leather or textile.

I don't care how hot it is outside, the asphalt is hotter and I want something between me and it. I don't like gettin burned. I didn't think about the fact that I sunburn easily too. Yeah, thats another reason....

Full gear all the time (sometimes replacing jeans with motorcycle pants though). I like my skin - even a low-speed crash can tear, embed gravel, and give good road rash to your skin. Having had an off in the middle of summer (at 20 k/hr) and seeing me slide 15 feet, I greatly appreciate my gear - I had a significant bruise on the hip but nothing else.

Currently looking into the 'summer mesh jackets' that have come on the market ... seem like a good combination of protection and coolness.

Yeah ive got a summer mesh that I got from the netrider shopping night. I reckon its great, just take the liner out when its summer, put it in the boot.

ditto - no way would I ride anywhere in shorts & t'shirt, even if I only intend to zip down to the beach and back. You just never know when you're going to decide to go and do something else/visit someone while you're out, and end up riding further thereby increasing your chance of having an off.

Always wear my draggins and jacket, although would love to get one of those summer mesh jackets. MCAS is right next door to my office, they've got the RJAYS mesh jackets for $200. But before that, I need some boots....and a bag to clip on the seat (don't want a rack if I can help it)...there's always something.

Had a fun trip yesterday, it was stinking hot, riding along the Eastern Distributor from the city, headed south. The first tunnel I came to, the bike decides it's going to cut out. traffic all around me, no shoulder on the road to pull onto, so I'm just sitting there trying to crank it over. Plenty of fuel and all, but wouldn't even start. It's developed this problem, I think it may be a partial blockage in the main fuel line.

I switched it to reserve, and seemed to run fine again. It did this a few weeks ago too, but fortunately I wasn't on a main arterial road at that point! the fizzer runs really well, but it just doesn't idle right. as soon as it gets hot, it conks out sometimes when I stop and let the revs die...I had the carbs cleaned etc not long ago, don't know what's going on with it.

Thats pretty normal FiZzr, our bike just hates hot conditions and traffic so nothing to worry about. Its a sportsbike so I guess it makes sense, it needs uncrowded roads with lots of nice corners!

Have you considered a magnetic tank bag instead? keeps the weight forward on the bike, and easy to put on / take off.

Check out the recent thread on float level heights - see http://www.fzr250.com/viewtopic.php?t=479&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 - may be related?
