    Hey all,

I will get right to it, the dream bike is an MC22.

Unfortunately, these bikes are extremely rare here... Never actually seen one with my own eyes.

There are 1 or 2 sellers here, but it seems like they have sold everything for way over price ($4000-7000) each. The only used bikes left are the YZF 250s and ZXR 250s.

In any case, I am also part of a Formula SAE team and was wondering if you guys could help me convince my team to switch to this engine.

    Does anyone know:

    - The mass of the MC22 engine?
    - Dimensions of the MC22 engine?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Phil.

    Firstly :welcome: to the forum...

Mate the engine you speak of is also in the MC19... they run a MC14E engine... sadly I cant tell you the dimensions... And dry weight I'm guessing 40-50 ish kilo... so 100 pounds there abouts... I copied this from Wikipedia.. so you can get an engine from any of these models..:crazypilot:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_CBR250

    MC14CBR250R (H)

    Welcome :)
Good luck with your search, I'm sure there's one out there for you somewhere!

I found mine - a CB250RS-A (MC02) a few months ago and got it registered and on the road last month. Now it's time to get seriously into restoring her! :)

Hey Phil, welcome to the Forum.
You have some good dreams my friend. A Honda MC22 is a great machine, if you were residing Down-under you could take your pick as they are very popular here in Australia.
I dismantled one 2 days ago for my son, he just sold one and over the years has owned several of these great bikes.
Really good ones fully restored can fetch some big bucks, but on the forum we see resto's take place without the need to rob a bank.
Parts are available and we also see many racing.
Good luck with your search in Canada, keep us posted.:thumb_ups:

Wow, so many replies! I thought it would be hard to get assistance for these bikes, this forum is great!

I honestly just need rough dimensions of the engines. Like approximate length side to side, bottom to top, front to back, that's it. Of someone who has the engine out could just take a ruler to it would be fine.

Oh and is 40-50kilos with or without the carbs?

Because if we end up getting one, it will be fuel injected running on a megasquirt 3 pro ECU.

    Thanks again!

    Thanks Tim.

    I await the dimensions.

Jeez, I may have to import one of these bikes for myself...

    Welcome Phil,

You've picked a great website to join. Lots of happy smiley people here.

Plenty of CBR experts for you to converse with and a few from the other camps as well (Kawasaki ZXR, Yamaha FZR & Suzuki GSXR). All great bikes with 45HP and not much weight. Not sure about the CBR, but my ZXR goes to 20,000rpm (when it's running!).

There's another Canadian on this forum who is into turbo charging and speed trials. From memory his weapon of choice is the FZR250.

    Cheers

    Frank

    Hey guys,

Any update on that engine mass? That would be soooooo useful to me.

    Thanks,

    Phil.
