Today I had been asked to help move a house full of furniture. Fortunately, the move was on behalf of my brother in law and his son, who are my two shadows, so I agree, on the condition that they came and picked me up and dropped me off, so I got to ride to Chidlow and back. That's maybe 110 k's there and back, in long-weekend highway traffic, which is a good thing to get more experience. No problems at all; no stalls, smooth starts, good road positioning. Heavy traffic but that was all good. New experiences included passing a loaded B-double and getting caught in a highly dangerous snarl because a horse trailer had come away from it's hitch halfway down Greenmount Hill, which, as the Perth riders will know, is often a road filled my with dangers at the best of times. And, oh what joy, a feckin bee in my helmet, less than 100 metres from home! I was very happy and my shadows said they can see how much my riding has improved but both of them have the same complaint about my riding as my instructor does: "Dude, you have to slow down! Doing 120 in the 110 zone was bad enough but you've really got to watch it in 50 and 60 zones." Right, gotcha, I'll work on that
It seems there are worse things to do inside your helmet than sneeze. A couple of years back I was acting as a flag marshal at Eastern Creek, directing riders off the track and back towards the pits. A Kawasaki rider pleaded with me to hold his bike while he collapsed on the ground and proceeded to rip his helmet off. When I asked if he needed medical help, he said that although he had come down a few corners back, he was fine but he had thrown up in his helmet.
No you won't........you'll become more proficient Brought back memories hearing Greenmount hill mentioned.......I remember all the run offs coming back down, been awhile.
