Spotted this lil beauty on Gumtree, been sitting for 2 years, carbs and airbox were off, I made the deal and bought it home thinking it was probably rooted.. I hooked the jumper leads to check she was free and it turned over, changed the oil and started pulling the carbs down, opened the first side it was clean as a whistle, checked the pilot jet, main jet and emulsion tube, all good. Slide the carbs onto the manifold, poured in some fuel and it started, it will only run on choke but it lives !!!! The forks are rusty and will need to be chromed.... what's that you say, you think I have a spare set.. damm straight I do Guess who is playing bikes tomorrow and not mowing the lawn Chris
hmm, Lawns are mowed now I know why the carbs were off the bike, it seems the PO has glued the idle screw and it wont budge, with the airbox on it runs but revs to 8000, Im trying some Acetone to break the glue down, I can only assume the idle screw has worn out and he used glue to secure it, albeit in the wrong spot.
Just checked the parts cache and i have a number 4 carb (throttle part the idle screw goes into) and idle screw which is the only good salvage from the bank let us know if you want/need it
thanks Th3 Huntsman, but I managed to breakdown the superglue with Acetone, then adjusted the idle, tank, airbox is now on, and it runs quite well. Lots more to do, but I will need some extra hands to swap the forks etc.
you know me mate.. let me know the time and the place... having played with ZXR forks I can help you out..
Happy to help when you need it done, @Tim is well qualified having created the Honka toy...............he's the man. Pleased you were able to sort the carbs out, I was a tad shocked to hear someone would actually glue the idle screws......go figure??????
