Good to hear you mending! I was wondering if the headaches were a bit of withdrawal, too? The headaches sound particularly horrid! Hope you continue improving.
Makes me realise how lucky I am: very little pain, still able to use my arm Inspite of a separated shoulder and broken elbow, looking to be on a bike soon. Hopefully.

    Hi Murdo.
Good to hear that you didn't have to get the wrist fused , how else would you wax on wax off all of the bikes you have ;). But on a serious note , with all of your bike restoration's you do i think a fused wrist would have hampered you which just would have p----d you off.

Can feel your pain your with your headaches you have , as i'm also in the same boat as yourself and other's on this forum by the sound's of it. On my bad day's my head feels like it was going to explode which made me really slow to think and act. Not sure if you get this symptom's , but every heart beat it was like my eyeballs are going to blow out of there socket's. These symptom's kept me off my bike for a very long time. Thankfully i some really good drug's that smash me out and put's me to sleep (yes there legal) , this help's me get through the bad day's.
It was so much fun having these huge headaches and working with 240Volt's. Talk about a 240 Volt re-charge :headbang: !

With clearance from the doctors, I took my 500 for a gentle 100Km ride on some quiet back roads. Wrist and back still sore, headaches clearing and bike running sweet. Lovely autumn day to be riding.

Riding motorbikes can have that effect. Can also give you a nasty headache, but let's stay with the positive! Good to hear that you are mending and out riding again.

Great to hear you are back on the mend Murdo.

If you ever feel like a ride out to Nundle cafe on a sunday morning or afternoon, let me know. Saturdays, I'm usually out on a ride to Gingers Ck. But always happy to go for a nice ride to Nundle on a Sunday for coffee.

I'll PM you my new phone mobile number. You have my old work one, which I had to hand back when I left for greener pastures late last year.

Today started on the renovation of some of my riding gear that was cut off me last October. The Belstaff coat and pants, I got a quote to repair of around $900. Might spend that amount of cash on some newer coloured gear. Got my sewing machine out and restitched my shirt and jumper. They now have joins in funny places but at least I can wear them again.

I was wondering if you were going to have pictures of a Mad Max/post-apocalyptic style repair with fencing clips. But I forget you're a man skills and craftsmanship.

Went for a ride to Bingara today with the VJMC club members on my FT500 and my son Matt on his SWM440 as my 'minder' in case I had troubles. The fast guys and gal left us behind, but I didn't care as I was quite nervous about a longer trip. If it hadn't been for my son pushing me I probably would have turned around half way and come home. We got to the Imperial Hotel in time for an early lunch, meeting with other VJMC members from Narrabri, Guyra and Inverell. After pleasantries and food we all went for a short ride to the dam. I felt good starting out but misjudged a couple of corners and slowed down. A rest stop at the camp kitchen and return to Bingara. Matt and I came home (the others were going to play up overnight at the pub) getting a little damp through some showers but by the time we got near Tamworth I was feeling confident again and getting back 'in the groove'. After nearly 400Km today my ar*e was letting me know that I need to do some more 'training' before it will be 'match fit' for any long rides.
    Waiting for lunch.

400km day ride? That's more than I've ridden in the last month! Good Work.

I went for a short 110km ride today to check out the bikes at the Bayles link run. My thumb was a little sore at the end of the return run. Take it easy @Murdo

@Murdo has had the pleasure of riding through some of Melbourne with me, so I expect he might identify with this article from The Age newspaper. @jmw76 lives and rides in Melbourne, so I'm guessing there's nothing new in the story for him. @jmw76 we'll have to go for a coffee up at Belgrave or one of those scenic spots when I get free day. Weather is a bit crap, but might get a ride in before heading to NSW later this week.

@Frankster sounds like a plan. The weather might be better later in the week.

    Nice one Murdo...

Just a heads up for anyone interested. Whilst the road through to Wauchope is closed. You can still get to the picnic area just past Gingers Ck Cafe (which is still closed). Longer ride for those interested.

My wife Tracey and I went there last weekend. We were stopped on the outskirts of Walcha and asked where we were going. Just told the guys that we were going to Gingers Ck for a picnic lunch and then coming back through Walcha and home to Tamworth. All good and they let us through. It was rather "apocolyptic" when we were going through the mountain area as there was absolutely no one else on the road except us.. though I had to watch out for a lot of sticks on the road surface. other than that, a nice ride in case anyone might be interested in going out that way..
