Im glad I found that one.

I knew this guy who did his own valve clearance once. He was pricing up a new head before the tank went back on.

on most bikes, 1/8 of a turn of a throttle plate adjuster is the difference between balanced and not. And on a four cyl. you have to be uber leet to balance it by ear. if you really want to get into diy mechanics, get yourself the right tools.

The bolt / vacuum socket is 6mm. The double-bottle method is VERY accurate, as you are measuring dP in mm of water column, vs the inches of mercury specified in the manual. Yes, water ingestion is something to watch. If your carbs are grossly out of sorts, you need to be quick with the kill switch; adjust, restart, check again. The very cautious or the slow of thumb may wish to use ATF.

The parts list includes two glass jam jars each with two holes drilled in the lids, some vinyl tubing and silicone goop, and carb adaptors from Motion Pro. I used small gauge tubing (smaller than the adaptors), so I also used 3/16" barb to 1/8" NPT adaptor bushings with o-rings. The small aperture of the bushings also minimised pulsing. It took me an hour to build the rig (my darling wife put the cordless drill away with a flat battery ), 30 min to get the bike torn down, the adaptors installed and the tank hooked up on a stand, and about 5-10 min to actually sync the carbs.

Do it. It isn't hard, and your bike will thank you.
