Howdy yall! just got a oil leak on the across im suspecting that i used too much oil and blew a gasket or 2. Stator cover is leaking slowly and opposite side near rear break lever is slowly leaking too i noticed the oil on the frame underneath. Has anyone got any experience with leaks in this area?

If so can you please let me know what gaskets need to be replaced and approximately how hard they are to get and possibly a ball park price? cheers  :D

The across was Australian delivered, your local Suzuki dealer should be able to source tour one, not sure on pricing

The first ,easiest and cheapest thing I would be doing is putting in the correct amount of oil then cleaning off all the leaked oil and then see if the leaking persists.

this is typical on the across. mine does the same. dont bother with the new gaskets. goto your nearest supercheap auto store and buy

    permatex - the right stuff

    the black stuff

remove the stator cover and remove the gasket and clean the surface. run "the right stuff" around the outside and let it sit about 1-2 minutes. put it on and do the bolts up firm.
fixxed. my across did this a few months back and i fixxed it like this.
the clutch cover - name the brake pedal when you remove that cover, oil is going to spew all over the floor.
2 says round this. go buy some new oil. drop the oil from the bike and then drop the clutch cover and clean it up and put "the right stuff" round it.

    or

    do what i did

grab your "swag" and throw it in the front lawn with a few extra pillows and blanket on top to give bike a soft landing.

take bike to the swag/pillows/blanket and lay the bike on its left side (gear shift side) on the swag etc. this will give the bike a good lean angle and not damage the bike and you dont need to replace the oil
once bike on the side, remove the clutch cover, clean it up. also while there, clean the inside of the oil inspection window. if you need a new one, buy one of these

i know these fit, cos i bought one earlier this year and replaced mine.to replace, remove the clutch cover and smash it inwards.put a rag underneath cos glass goes every where.punch it out with a hammer and drift. when put new one in, put some gasket sealant round the outside and slide it in.make sure you keep oil window in a freeze for at least 24 hours before you replace it. it makes it shrink just enough to make it fit. then once fitted. let it sit about an hour to warm up and expand, then put clutch cover back on bike

    easy peasy

Wanted to say thanks for the reply's on this topic. I replaced clutch cover gasket with a home made one from gasket paper and used some permatex aswell. no oil leaks from that area BUT i still have a leak on the clutch cover side? seems like there was no leak from actual clutch cover gasket   I will ride for one hour pull up for some fuel and by the time i pay and get on the bike there is a few drips on the ground!!!!

I got home and inspected it and cant pinpoint where its coming from. Anyone got any ideas where oil can leak from apart from clutch cover on that side of the motor? oil is collecting on the frame!

you dont need any gasket or gasket paper with permatex the right stuff

if you have used permatex the right stuff and paper gaskets, then remove the parts you did this, clean them all and re do them with no gaskets and no paper, the right stuff is a gasket maker on its own and used by a number of manufacturers to totally replace gaskets all together.

    this product is magic kit.

the other thing that might be leaking is the gasket between the bottom of the cylinder (where the pistons move up and down) and the crank case.

my across is doing exactly this and has a small leak from the left side just above the stator cover, or it was.

i went nuts with right stuff in that corner and ran it round the outside of the cylinder and no more leaks, get temp fix to clean it up a bit before it gets traded

if it is still leaking from the clutch cover side or even the stator side check your cam chain tenioner as i had a similar problem with mine leaking oil from what i thought was both sides but it actually turned out to be oil leaking through the cam chain tenioner and over flowing the valley and spilling down the sides. I found this out by replacing the stato gasket 3 times and the housing itself thinking it was cracked or bent. Good luck
