OK... so the 96 ACROSS had Led Indicators which were missing on the rear and 1 was broken on the front...
So I source a new set (horrendously expensive at $20) and I start checking electrics this afternoon to see what works and what doesn't...
Everything other than the indicators works... I have found 3 of the 4 connections to have ballast resistors which is normal (the 4th one can be sorted)... but even when connecting front and rear with ballast connectors they don't blink..they just go on and stay on...
So I am guessing the relay is kaput... where the heck is the flasher relay on this thing?? The manual has a routing diagram but no relays are shown.. I could trace all the wiring down but it would be far easier if one of the learned gentlemen in here who knows where the stupid thing is could let me know... it might save me several hours of chasing circuits and unravelling tape and wires that I really don't want to do.

OK... well I found it... on the LH side up front near the headlight... the only relay with 2 pins...
Interesting thing... I have no power up to the relay..ignition on... indicators on.. no flashing.
Remove the relay and no indicators at all...
Fuse is fine... but I changed it anyway... still no flashing.. I tried another relay (condition not known) and still nothing.
It is kind of strange as looking at the wiring diagram there should be power there... but no... nothing.
Looks like I have to start tracing wires... grrrrr

Are the indicator wiring terminal's on your SRX the same ?
Could you try connecting 2 of the SRX indicator's up to one side and checking if the flasher can is working correctly?
Also does the dash indicator on warning light have an led fitted instead of an incandescant bulb and is it working?

Standard globe in the dash and it comes on. I will have a look for standard indicators. Might have 2 from the FZR. None for the SRX.
Seems as though I am not getting power to the relay though.
One way is to go straight from the battery to the relay to check I guess.

I looked at the wiring diagram, it seem's that it get's it's power from the same fuse (#3) as the brake light, is that working?

Have you tried it with no dash indicator bulb fitted ?
If they work then you might need to add in a couple of diode's to the circuit

Yep, brake light works from both front and rear.
Just taken a break as it is 42 in the garage and too hot to troubleshoot this sort of thing.
I need to look at the wiring diagram again as it has an Orange with Green stipe coming out of the fuse box. The wires to the flasher relay are green and black with white stripe.

I got serious and put on my Norton Commando tee shirt (always helps with troubleshooting) and decided I was better to try a new flasher can than start pulling all the wiring apart...
I did disconnect the gauges first and no difference... so plugged in an electronic flasher can and they started to flash..but not consistently.. I bought the wrong can... lol
It is electronic but not an LED version.. so it works with the ballast resistors perfectly.
I will either grab one extra ballast resistor tomorrow at Jaycar or an LED flasher can... I think the LED flasher can is the better bet.. the ballast resistors get pretty hot.

So... to end the story... don't rely on circuit diagrams and / or colour codings... most of it is right but somewhere under all the black tape there is a colour change... and it looks like it is factory done as well.

Well not quite the end of the story... I fitted up a specific LED Electronic (silent) relay and I now have some feedback through the dash globe... so I will seek out a T5 LED for there as well... May as well get several and replace all the dash globes with LED's

What sort of feedback are you getting ?

Depending on how the Across is wired up you might not be able to use a LED for the warning light.
It might only work in one direction, not sure if a Canbus LED would solve that problem though?

A partial flash in the opposite front indicator... when I remove the dash indicators globe all is good... so hopefully it is just the incandescent globe causing the issue...
I know I can wire in some diodes but that is a PITA so if the LED dash light solves the issue all will be good...

I went back over everything again this afternoon... just to be sure...
So.. standard indicators and new electronic (non LED) variable load flasher can... all work fine.. no feedback... good flash rate etc.
Same flasher can but LED indicators and she no flash at all... just on... add in ballast resistors and they all flash just as the standard fare (plenty of heat from the resistors though).
LED Flasher can and 4 x LED indicators (dash globe connected) and there is a slight feedback on each flash on the opposite side (not the full led lights up).
Remove the dash globe and they flash perfectly... just like standard fare...

So tomorrow morning I will head down to Jaycar for some T5 LED's or are they T10's... either way I will take the samples with me.... I will replace the dash lights with LED's at the same time... maybe some nice blue ones :)

Hopefully that will fix the issue.

Buy a pair of diode's while you're there just incase

I tried some really bright ebay blue led's in my FZR dash, but they were still to dim
There's some dash pic's on the first page of my thread

How and where do you insert the diodes???

OK... well Google was my friend... this little pdf explains it and shows what to do quite well...

I put the wiring change to add diode's link up in my post above the flasher can's

Damn... didn't see that link... still the pdf I linked explains it all as well..
I now understand why... and that just putting in an LED dash light won't make any difference... apart from making it possibly brighter :)
    Jaycar it is...
