    Hi All,

I have recently purchased an Across as my very first bike. I'm looking forward to getting it on the road! However, my radiator fan is disconnected. There are two wires that are hanging there, and I can't for the life of me find the other end for them...

    Any help would be great!

    Cheers folks,
    Nige...

    :welcome:

Im sure an Across owner will know exactly but have a look for any cut wires in the loom or taped up ends or similar.

Previous owners have a habit of doing strange things with older bikes ..... :commando:

    Thanks for the welcome guys.

I have spent ages, probably an hour, searching for the other end of this connection. I've even been back out only a little while ago with a torch, just in case a different light picked it up... My guess is, either there is something else plugged into the wire where the radiator is supposed to go, or, it's been nipped and tucked etc.. However, if there was something else plugged in, shouldn't there still be 2 wires floating around somewhere... beats me.

Hopefully someone with an Across will drop by and enlighten me :)

    Cheers.

If the loom has been mangled beyond repair, you could always wire it up to a switch. You will just have to remember to flick it on when it gets a bit on the warm side/ in slow traffic. But in saying that shouldn't be too hard to find the right wires via colour codes.

    That's another option. Thanks.

I'll hold out a day or two and see if someone can throw up a picture, before chopping into the loom etc..

    cheers.

EDIT: I don't think the loom has been tampered with much, I can't see any obvious signs. (Looks like original casing, not much if any insulation tape etc..)

I hate wiring diagrams! ...... the wires from the fan are supposed to be orange , and brown to the switch , then black from the switch onward.

Have a look at your thermostat housing for a connection and the back of your water temp gauge.

Very true. My bad. Now, if I knew where the FAN-SW physically was, I'd be set... New toys, new learnings.

Next to it is the water temp sensor # 21 ..... which obviously should go to your temp gauge

Are the wires from the fan still in 1 piece with the connectors still attached?

Yes. Gauge working, wires complete. I know it's crazy but I have this feeling the other ends will be tucked up somewhere and I just can't see them.. :(

Hopefully there will be one on the thermo housing switch to connect to.
From what I can tell from the wiring diagram the orange goes to the fuse box ..... eventually
Maybe theres an orange wire u can trace back from the fuse box .... who knows where the connection is though !
Looks like the side stand relay comes off that circuit also.

Thanks mate. You've been a big help.

Any idea where I'd look for gaskets for the Across? Tried ebay, but no joy.

    Cheers.
