Can someone give me a quick description of an Across throttle cable?

I picked up a spare today (heading off on a trip in the morning), and I expected it to be a dual cable at one end (carby end) but then that would be a weird cable.

Assure me it's just a straight cable someone?

this is throttle cable off my old across, its an aftermarket one as the adjuster is metal, the geniune suzuki ones are plastic.

If its a spllit cable ( Y cable) , then its the choke cable

    thanks

    Chris

Thanks Chris - yeah I've been going by seeing the choke cable and thinking that's the throttle cable. The cable I have is a Suzuki part so I reckon it'll be fine.

    Cheers!

Hey Brad  Here's hoping you don't have to change that throttle cable whilst on your trip, but one never knows. One bit of advise if you do, make sure you follow the same route as the old one, deviations cause problems. Have a great trip

    Thanks Phil,

I certainly hop I don't end up changing it either. It's an emergency measure - the throttle cable being the only one I've not replaced on this thing.

    Cheers!

    Hey Phil et al,

My trip went well and I was well prepared. Fortunately no mechanical issues and the bike ran like a top.

Experienced my first wet-weather riding but fortunately the rain didn't last long - a short spell between Canberra and Gundagai. The rest was clear sailing.

Experienced my first real bout of road fatigue - objects on the road were looking like other things. Like I was mistaking cars for cattle and such - at which point I stopped and holed up in a Motel for the night.

Wouldn't mind a bigger bike though. Left Holbrook at about 6.30AM - beautiful morning - I was doing about 130k/hr up the Hume when a bloke passed me sooo effortlessly on a Ninja ZX-10R. He left me in the dust pretty quickly. Caught up to him at Gundagai (he'd stopped of course) and I've never seen a Ninja like this one - green and white (no black on it) and much sleeker than the 2011 model. No idea what it was.

That said, a 960cc machine is way more than I could hope to handle at this point - the ZX-6R maybe ;) - gotta get out of probationary license period anyway - dream on in the meantime.

Coming back was easier - hardened up a little and paced myself better.

Cheers for all the help chaps,

    Brad

    Hey Brad
Seems like only yesterday that you were heading off, where does time go.
Glad to hear you had no mishaps with your bike, the journey is long enough without any additional hassles. The trip sounded great if not a bit tiring, the joys of motoring.
Hear what your saying about the bigger bikes, all that power and speed, and all the more chance of getting BOOKED. Hey who's kidding who, I have a Honda CBR1100 and I have to be ever vigilant as it's so easy to exceed the speed limit.
Rode my Across down to Brisbane the other week and she handle the highway and speed without any problems, really enjoyed the ride.
Good to have you back.                                      Phil
