I have the battery out and charging it at the moment. Before I put it back in I wll give all the terminals a good clean.
After the battery is off the charger for an hour or so check the voltage before u put it in the bike ..... then after a few start attempts check it again with the bike off.
Mapo_69 Havnt tried that yet I thought I had it sorted thought it was a low battery but now it wont kick at all fully charged or on jumper leads. The battery seems fine (greyimport its back in the bike now I will do what you said next time) Something that happend today that was a bit strange was when I took it up the street today (it had been starting fine before that run) I hit the kill switch when I parked the bike and as it was turning off the starter engaged and since then it hasnt started! I thought at the time I must of hit the button. But maybe the solonoid shorted or something?
As the two switches are together I would take off the switchgear from the handlebar and see if anything sinister is happening inside
Something is not correct there, would certainly get those switches off and check the wiring, not right?
Whatever the cause the starting system on the bike has stopped working! I will need to go in and check all the components and see what has failed. Starting with the switches. Luckily though it's not stopping me from enjoying the bike and riding it! It's a piece of cake to clutch start (it's a shame they don't have a kick start).
That's the beauty about Suzuki's, you can't stop them. Think you will have to trace the electrics through, a little tedious but feel certain you will find the culprit.
Still sounds like solenoid is sticking to me, may be in switch block unlikely tho combining this with the original problem Agreed.
Defiantly the solenoid tried what mapo_69 suggested and it fired straight up. I just need to get a new solenoid and replace the faulty one. Just wondering if it would work to wire a toggle switch to the faulty solenoid to use as temperary ignition switch until I get a new solenoid?
Thank mapo_69 I am glad you could help too. And also to everyone else who put their comments up much appreciated. I am sure I will need to draw on more of your expertise as I get to know this bike! Thanks Tomt
New solenoid came today! Thank you kiffsta. Its now in the bike and it starts no problems. Happy days Tomt
