I would say it depends on the condition of the bike when you purchase it to know it its been really looked after, cause even if it had 30,000 it could be a very sour lemon. I also heard when the bikes arrive in japan they wind the clock back anyhows.. cause my mechanic said my brack disc look like it had 70,000 kms instead of the 30,000 kms on the clock, not sure if thats true or not. But just be sure to throughly check the bike, you goin get another FZR grendal?? or turning to the dark side.. Honda... haha

I traded my fzr in with 52 000. I could likely have sold it for more privately, but it would not have been worth the hassle (to get a RWC I would have needed to replace sprockets and chain which is around a $400 expense plus time). I got $1000 off the purchase price for my new bike. I was not too fussed because I was getting an exceptional deal on it as it was, and couldn't be bothered with selling privately.

Worst case scenario - you can always sell to a wrecker provided your bike parts are in good condition, regardless of the number of k's. Likely be able to get at least $800 - $1000 depending on the pieces. (My bike was resold to a wreckers I was told even though it had no mechanical problems...).

Jarmizz (who has been lost for a while) is riding his fzr at 70 000+ k's. So they can keep going if you maintain them.

I also saw on e-bay not too long ago a fzr with 56 000 k's trying to be sold for 2600. It didn't have any bids on it last I had checked, but have to give credit for trying. (looking at e-bay I found this: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=35233&item=2490208458

Well assume the bike is in a good condition...eg, you wouldn't be able to tell that it had 70,000 kms on it or not. Just been fully serviced..new tyres etc etc.

Well Dean, my problem is that, for me to get a new bike..I have to sell this one first . And that could mean I wont have a bike for like 2 months. Which I dont want to happen. As for my choice of bike..I would like to get a late model 3ln as first preference. I am also looking at some of tha zxr250's. Im not a fan of kwakkas, but they are another cheap sports bike like the fzr, and they r rated at the same power and weight.

how much longer till off your restrictions (or are you off)? I needed the money too in order to purchase my new bike whcih is why I traded it in.

If you coudl I would suggest waiting until you are ready to buy a bigger bike. 250's loose their value quickly, but one already up there in k's won't lose much/any value (because it is likely only to be used for parts anyways). You could get a decent/good mid-late 90's model 600 cc sports bike with 30 000 on the clock for around $4500, and that is the same price as a typical 250.

I would say 250's hold their value very well. lol. Ive only been on my L's for like 3 months not even. So that means im gonna have a 250 for at least another 14 months. I reckon the bikes condition is pretty good..and I reckon id get 3k for it. But, if i keep it for another 12 months...chances are I wouldn't get 2k for it..especially 'if' the engine gets worse...
