Someone with a land barge knocked my bike over today while I was at work. Housemate took photos and got the plate #, and left a note with my phone # on the land barge.

I got home and the car was gone, haven't had a phone call.

Waiting for the police to arrive and take a report (failure to stop at accident)

Need to know how I can find out the owner's name and contact details from the plates.

Anyone who has done this before please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Adrian

it shits me when they don't leave a note, basically you need to file a police report with a statement from your flat mate as well as the photo , the police will take the plate details and contact the car owner to get their side of the story, there is nothing you can do to obtain their details (legally) . Hopefully they are decent people and will have insurance and will get your bike fixed, if not, then its a trip to small claims court. Get a copy of the photo off your mate and get a couple of copies printed for safe keeping.

    Good luck, keep us posted

Did a quick lookup of the plate its a 2011 Blue Porsche Cayenne.

The right handlebar is bent real bad, luckily I already had bought a spare as it was slightly bent. I want to leave the bike until the cops show up, even though I need to do work to it...

Cops came over and wrote it all down. I doubt that the porsche owner will fess up. Just lucky that I have a spare right handlebar already...

NOT happy about the smashed indicator as I just replaced them.

At least I got my go pro and new levers in the mail...

Not really I had the cover on at the time, it was raining so I put it on last night before I got to finish the sprocket change

And today I get a parking fine because the bike was in a 4 hour spot.

    You cannot win in Sydney...

see a solicitor if the police do nothing. give them a chance first. keep a screwdriver handy if you see that plate.if you are insured do a claim on your insurance with photo and flatmates statement.insurance will track them down and make them pay.

The cops came last night and I provided them photos. I have an event #.

I should raise this with the insurer of the other vehicle?

Hence lucky nothing is seriously broken, and I have a replacement handlebar

    This.

Easiest to do it through your insurance and they can deal the the other party's insurer.

ask the police if they can ring the owner and say the accident was seen and photo taken. give them permission to give other party your phone number. sometimes works.
