SDRRS round 5 race report 5th and last round at Morgan park raceway This was my first race competing and on a mc22 cbr250rr. Decided to do the track day on the 31st of October before race weekend to get a feel for the bike and track. First lap was a 2min, didn’t get many clean laps and finished day on a 1:55.9 feeling confident I could improve. Qualifying on the sat morning consists of 2 sessions and best of all would be my grid position for the weekend. Entered into the 250 production class and formula 4 class. Hot day qualifying went well best time in 250 class was 1:51.016 for grid position 18 and a 1:52.274 for grid 18 as well. Both races 250 and formula 4 on Saturday would be 10 laps and a test!! 250 race one started 18th had a great start and was up a position but overtaken into turn 1 this would be a common theme haha. Had clear track for most of race and set a 1:51.6 for best lap and finishing 2 laps down. First formula 4 race started 18th and again good start but overtaken into turn 1. Set best lap of a 1:51.029 best so far and happy with improvement throughout the day!!! Sunday saw a different format with 250 class first race a 10 lap then a 6 and a 5, formula 4 was a 6 and 2 5 laps. First 250 race once again good start and set best lap of 1:47.694 knocking off 3.3 seconds and best of weekend so far!! First formula 4 race of day not as good didn’t feel like I had much grip and set a 1:48.741 as best lap but they were more consistent. 2nd 250 race set best lap of a 1:48.021 and keeping consistent held better lines and was starting to mix with peter into turn 1 but was taken on turn 2. 2nd formula 4 race much of the same a 1:48.741 and tried few different lines to be a bit smoother. 3rd 250 race of the day had a little moment into turn 2 off the start trying to keep in front of few guys and nearly bucked me off but kept it upright and finished race with a 148.021. 3rd formula 4 race had a great start and bike felt fast after a few tips from team tiger guys on tyre pressures and lines and set my best lap of a 1:45.347 also my best of the weekend managed to stay with peter laing(88) whole race and my goal for whole meet!!!!!! Last 250 production race had an awesome start felt comfy on bike and didn’t push too hard as I was starting to get a bit tired but set a 1:47.432 for best lap of race and was keeping under the 1:50 mark. I didn’t race in last formula 4 race as chain was at end of life and so was I haha. Was happy to put bike back on trailer same way it came!!! Overall had a fantastic meet bike ran awesome had friends around who came to support and thankful for! Can’t wait till start of next season and compete in all rounds funds permitting to get those lap times down. Hopefully future race reports will be a bit more interesting with some battles for positions but I’m very happy with performance for first race. Have to say a big thanks to sponsors Micks bike & car tyre dyno centre for all the help and getting the bike running mickey mouse, C.L kitchens and Cabinetry callan is supplying me with a trailer for race events next year and Illuminate LEDS for their support!!! And of course my partner Trista, family and friends for sitting in hot sun to cheer me on!!! Till next year cheers Pat Can't upload pics on comp for some reason so here a link with some https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bulldog-racing/1547184502166718?fref=photo
