hey fellas, removed my cams to do the valve clearances, all went well ( need new valves which did not go well) and i have put the cams back in lined it up perfectly and put in the cam chain tensioner and now have no tension.

here scratching my head after going over everything, positive it didnt fall off the crank as i had tension on it the whole time and i am positive its not the tensioner as beforehand the chain was tight.

also if anyone has a cylinder head with valves they want to get rid of for an A model give me a pm.

    Hey mate
If you have put everything back together as stated, my only thought is tensioner? Did you retract the tensioner when re-assembling and has the push rod extended fully after that? Tensioners can be fickle at times, would double check it just to be sure. Should the tensioner not extend fully try installing it fully extended, takes a bit of doing but in the absence of another it can get you out of trouble temporarily. Otherwise, I have no idea?

my first thought aswell, but after taking wise phils advice i took out the tensioner cleaned it in oil and put it back in and it is now tight again and after turning the crank afew times it all seems good.

also would anyone know any good sites to look for valves, and also if anyone knows if the a model, c model and balius valves are all the same.

8 exhaust valves mate, all of them are soft and are wearing, got roughly 2000km's before the clearances tightened by .1-.3 so im lead to believe the valves are bad.

also would i need to take the head to a shop to have the seats machined if this is the case, or could i use a valve seat cutter to clean them up and be on my way.

lol dont worry i have seen them all and that seems to be the going price, highway robbery, might just wait until something pops up, maybe i will get lucky.

so you would just need to clean the seat up and use the paste to see if there are leaks between the head and the valve.

I will try and pull the head of my spare c model engine thru the week. If you could check to see c model valves are the same before I do so I would appreciate that.

the valves have the same part number from the a model, c model and balius so i reckon the valves will be the same, im not sure the cams are the same though.

    appreciate the help as well.
