What do you like? What is your size and weight and how much money do you want to spend?

Maybe head in to your local motorbike store and talk to someone , have a look and sit on a few different options to get some idea. Even if you have no intention of buying new you could still get a better idea of what's what

also , what do you want it for, just commuting to work or longer trips interstate or joyrides in the mountains or bushbashing or delivering mail?

try various bikes for size- that is sit on the seat and see if your feet sit on the ground. different bikes have different seat heights

Ride some, choose one you like. That easy. People will have opinions but that would be based on their taste rather than yours. For reliability stick to Japanese manufacturers, others can be fun though. Enjoy it ;)
