Info Carb cleaning

    1937 Royal Enfield 250, CF Moto 250 V5, Honda's XL250, CBR250, FT500 plus a few others.
    Helping a friends son with his VFR400. Been running like crap and stalling often when stopping, then it started dropping a cylinder at about 7,000rpm, so carbs off and on the bench.
    Fairly clean inside and out, but this Ladies and Gentlemen is why you DO NOT use silicone (of any sort) on carbutettors.

    Hard to see in this photo but the main jet is 3/4 blocked with goo.

    This is what a clean bowl with a new seal should look like.

    All silicone I have ever seen has turned to 'snot' consistancy when soaked in petrol. DO NOT USE IT.

    Using a new gasket would have been easier , but , what's the fun of doing that :headbang:.
