Need some advice please of how to remove the rear side rails so that I can attach a rack I have bought in readyness for a top box. I might be able to add the rack to the outside of the rails as I think there is room to do this if needed.

My major concern is the top bolt of the rear suspension which also holds the side rails in place. If I try to undo this bolt will the rear suspension spring pop off it will it stay in place long enough for me to add the rack or exchange the rails for the rack.

    Thanks in advance

Spring wont jump off if you are just putting a rack mount on. Put bike on centre stand (or jack if no stand) to take the weight when you undo the bolts.

The bike has twin shocks doesn't it? Do one side at a time. Bump up the preload if necessary to align the bolt holes.
