hi all just bought a 1982 CB250RS, its in a bit of a state previous owner abandoned turning it into cafe racer. I am hoping to return it to its former glory as have all parts except the original headlamp. will require a lot of help as gotta admit until now bike maintenance has meant air in tyres and drop of petrol. so hoping for a lot of advice, whatever advice I am given the only thing I promise is I will never say "I knew that" so happy to be treated like a mechanical virgin. Welcome aboard Shaun. Good luck with the bike. I’ve just got my CB250RS back on the road after buying it as a non-runner. From my own observations you probably have parts more readily available where you are. I’m sure you will get help here. Have fun!

Is it actually warm enough in Barnstaple to wear sandals, or are you just hardcore? Well done on saving another bike from a butcher, hopefully they never got around to delugging the frame or other such irreversible nastiness!
First thing welcome to the forum.First thing on the bike is to check the brake caliper isn't seized, you will not get another one at anything like a reasonable price, though parts from other bikes do fit. Anything else can be got from Dave Silver or eBay, including a haynes manual. They are dead simple bikes to work on, clean the tank out, clean the carb out gently, change the oil, clean the mesh filter out, get the engine running and then start on the rest of the bike. They like a fully charged battery to start, clean and test every single electrical connection, buy a can of ACF50. All this from recent experience.........
