One of my work mates @MJF crashed his MC22 and broke his collar bone, I have been trying to find some time to pick it up and get him back on the road now that he has healed up. I went and picked the bike up this morning which was fun as the front brake lever was broken and the house was on a big hill.

When I got it home, I hooked up the jump pack and she eventually coxed into life, it does have 6 month old fuel in there, now that she is running I set about replacing the bent \ broken parts.

New windscreen, indicator, H bar, rear seat, brake lever and mirrors were fitted. I pumped the tyes up as they were well down and took it for a ride. It was pulling left and when I grabbed the front brake she pulled hard left, Im thinking we have some bent forks \ triple tree \ axel. Its definitely not safe to ride.

    More to come

nice work so far, best of luck finding mc22 forks. i'd offer up my zxr250 front end but that'd be a bit haggard if it even fit on the mc22 at all

@MJF i'm in the same suburb as you, that's nuts

did a bit more work on this bike during the week, after fitting a carbon @Xcitebikes muffler, the bike wasn't running right, so I ripped the carbs apart and all 4 slow jets were blocked, 2 of the mains were partially blocked , cleaned them up and she ran like a top. I decide a test ride was in order and found it was all over the shop, I nursed it home and realised the rear tyre was flat, after some investigation I found the valve stem had almost snapped off. @MJF had intended on buying some fresh rubber , so I organized some Michelin Pilot street radials for $300 a pair from my local, these are going on tomorrow, then he should be good to hit the road.

    sound better in Carbon :drinks:

Im pleased to say that the CBR is now Up, but it was a huge effort. New Michelin pilot street radials' were fitted today and during the test ride it was evident that the forks weren't the only thing that was bent. The triple tree was also swapped out and new head stem bearings were fitted, then after reassembly, we found some movement in the front end. After lots of trials and tribulations we replaced the axle with a spare and it came good. Its not 100% , there is a still a small amount of pull to the left but its very minor. @MJF was keen to ride so off he went, good to see the old girl back on the road after 8 months under a house.

I've actually got this set of forks. Wanted them for all parts so that I can build a good set using straight MC19 tubes I have. Although you could probably have these straightened, there is a crease from the lower triple clamp and you wouldn't want to use them unless you didn't have any other alternatives.

Yes, that is correct if they have a crease throw them in the bin, keep for using as a lever, or hitting something you don't like.

Good read. Glad I opened this up, because I may have the same issues as this because of the exact same incident (& injury).

I was going to chuck my spare forks, tree, wheel & axel.

I WONT be doing that now.

No kiffsta, it's for the FZR. Not the CBR...

FZR250 fork tubes which makes getting them straightened or re-chromed pretty much redundant, not that their worth rescuing @ $400 for re-chroming anyway
