I thought I would start a thread about how each of us clean and maintain our bikes.

As some of you may have gathered from my project bike build, I'm into cleaning everything!
What I'm about to describe is the maintenance of the 600 I use daily. I very rarely wet wash it and only use cleaning fluids to clean and maintain everything. The only time I use water is to hot wash with dish washing detergent and toothbrush brake callipers and discs.

I use a cloth and spray INOX onto the cloth and wipe all the grime of all surfaces and sprockets, best done when chain is warm from a ride. I clip cloths behind the chain and sprocket to prevent spray chain lube going everywhere. All surfaces then get a coat of lube.

I find the best cleaner/ restorer is simply a cloth with INOX. To add shine and to remove mild scratches rub in some natural lanolin grease .

Body work, screens, engine covers and chrome.

Below will be 3 example pictures.

I use a clean soft cloth with lens cleaner sprayed onto it to wipe bugs and grime off the surfaces (wipe away any oil weeps with another cloth prior if required). Then apply polishing wax and buff to a shine.
Clear screens come up amazing after a few cleans!

I first clean with lens cleaner on a cloth, then wax and polish or rub the natural lanolin grease into them to keep them soft and protected.

    Conclusion!

This ZZR600E is 17 years old, original paint, chrome, everything! and is still in fantastic condition. I put a good 580km on her every working week plus rides on the weekend if we get the spare time.

Being a husband, father of two, paying off a house, feeding dogs, birds, guinea pigs and helping with everyday chores, I still make time to maintain my bike to a high s.a.h.s standard (safe at high speed :neo: )

    inox -mx3
    lens clean - uvex clear
    crc - brakleen
    chain wax - maxima racing
lanolin - fluid film liquid AR (any natural lanolin will do weather it be a wax, grease or oil.

    patience and elbow grease, free!

In regard to aerodynamics, hand cut and wax and polish your helmet ! it makes a huge difference at high speed.
