Hey guys! Loving the site, already helped me fix a handful of my problems. I pulled my clutch out and put it back in and when i started it it started to gently smoke? i tightened the bolts down reasonably hard (not spastic so they would break the inside or anything) and it started to smoke... so... i now ask with all hope, if anyone knows the specs of which the clutch plate (or what ever you guys/girls may suggest is smoking from that area) on what i need to torque down or what ever. I already opened it back up and did everything a lot looser (like no effort so the bolt just started to grip) i don't want to do it any looser cause i'm afraid i'll damage it or what not?...
    Sorry,
Cheers in advance for any info/suggestions!!

You sure you didnt just accidently get some oil on the outside of the engine thats heating up?
Id make sure the outside of the engine is completely clean.
I wouldn't have the clutch bolts too loose either. I wouldn't imagine that the smoke is coming from anything to do with the clutch.

I am pretty much 100% certain that the smoke wouldn't be coming from the clutch.
if the engine cover is sealed and you have put the oil in to the correct level. The smoke is probably just heated oil on the outside of the engine or exhause which will probably go away after a little while.

Did you use a new gasket to seal the engine cover? is any oil leaking?

Id be looking for oil leaks at the tensioner or the engine cover *nods*.
If you do have any leaks and your feeling SUPER dodgy, I used silicone to block a leak on my engine cover as a temporary solution once =p.

And what do you mean it smells like clutch lol, you haven't been using clutch fluid as engine oil I hope =p?

Yeah probably tighten them up *nods*. Don't want them coming undone thats for sure!

Clutch pack bolts have a very specific torque setting. On the FZR, the springs have to be torqued to 6nm, which is barely hand tight. Check your service manual

I never get SUPER dodgy feelings .... what are they exactly? .... seems like something I would never want when working on bikes.

Anyway heres the correct torque settings for your bikes clutch ..... I would suggest u go buy a torque wrench thats calibrated from about 5 to to 140Nm ..... I see in your other thread u had the plates off ..... they need to go back exactly as they came off
The spring bolts need to be tensioned as per manual so the clutch can operate correctly and evenly

The cover bolts arnt so vital but as u have a fairly new bike they should also be done correctly to avoid stripping out the thread from overtightening or too loose and having a leak .

Super dodgy is that feeling you get when something is broken and you don't have the right stuff to fix it lol. But yeah your advice is 100% solid and I shouldn't give bad advice =.(
