In Melbourne, the couriers do not wait around for signatures anymore. Just drop it and go. Post down here is stupid. Still waiting on a small parcel to be delivered. Was posted in Melbourne on 3 August being delivered to Ferntree Gully (37km away), still waiting. Bloody COVID
Donna told me they don't have you sign anything because of the worry of Covid gems transfer so they just put CV in the signiture box and pass you the parcel.
The "signature on delivery" has been suspended by most carries. They now scan the parcel on delivery (it records the GPS coordinates) and, once the parcel has been delivered to the addressee, the driver signs for the delivery. It has the same value as before, the only difference is that we don't touch the pen/handheld device they use. The auspost contractor comes every day, hand me the parcels and take a picture of it. I don't need to sign anymore.
