The birth of mc22 possibly? I dunno, the article calls it honda mc22r If HRC did in fact make that bike that's pretty exciting to me, his exhaust doesnt make a great deal of sense to me though. Lots of weight without scavenging seems silly to me.
Sounds like someone just sold him an MC19 and told him it was one of a few HRC CBRs from back in the day. If's it from or developed by HRC, it will have HRC or Honda Racing on it. If I saw that bike without any context I would assume they were building a MC19 based RC166 replica or something. Judging from the fact the article was written in 1995 (kinda hard to verify information like this) I would say it's not too credible. I have never seen anything about specific HRC parts for MC22s which makes sense because at the time the RS125 and RS250 (and, kind of, the NSR250) were the race bikes to have.
Not a mc22, Pipes are made to be like the r162, only a few parts were ever made for the mc22, a tuned ignitech would be better than a hrc anyway provided you had a good tuner
The thing that gets me is if its bogus how could someone that smart be so dumb at the same time? I dunno there is some curious statements made in the article that I have seen nowhere else and if my eyes done deceive me those wheels look like magnesium wheels. if they are thats gotta be pretty rare.
re-ignitech by my previous calculations assuming you already had spark strength of 35000+ volts you'd be lucky to make 1hp between 5-7k RPM and about a quarter of a HP across the board. If racing you wouldn't really want to fall out of the power band anyway so 300$ for an ignitech is a silly as buying an 800$ muffler. But time will tell.
I've seen regular wheels painted to look like Magteks. And judging from the fact there seems to be pretty significant performance issues with the bike, such as bogging near peak power and constantly blowing up the engine, I doubt he is really knowing what he's doing. And as far as doing X to get Y power, A to get B power... on a MC22, you'd have to be pretty crafty to get more power out of the engine. I don't think any bolt-on or plug-in parts will do it. You gotta remember, the MC22 engines are from MC14s. They were probably designed in the early 80s. Very, very old engines not designed to be raced and built to be reliable. Also, just an FYI, but tachometers commonly mis-represent the actual RPM. They get more inaccurate as the RPM rises too.
All of the above I completely agree. Emissions dip between 5-7k rpm is accurate, I was basing it off the blue fox thingy. 20k revs on hornet was a slight exaggeration. He did use 2 tacho's though, source: As for crafty I have a few tricks up my sleeve, load and friction is the exploitable area of the mc14e with its high rev low torque top end thing its got going, there is 1 bolt on mod that is likely to give about 3 hp straight off the bat but shh secrets.
True, you could do few engine mods. But more than likely the best thing for the MC22 would be better suspension to go faster around a track. I mean, if you want more juice, get a CBR400 or VFR/RVF400 (similarly sized bike). Also, pretty sure those hornets use MC14E engines too, so getting it to go to 19k RPM is pretty achievable, even just by using a MC22 wiring loom and CDI box. I haven't seen a tuned exhaust though for a MC22. As I learnt with my MC21, weight reduction is the easiest thing to do.
No one notice the cash spent on it just over £8000/$16000 on parts pffft for 9hp what a clown £18000/$36000 all up is he serious
