Headin along ipswich road in brizzy thismorning at exactly 1:55 and decided to give it a bit after some lights, i did and there was a cop standing in the middle of the road, he said that i was close to getting arrested because of what speed i was doing in a residential area, anyway he gave me a ticket, doing less than 40 but more than 30, a $350 fine and 6 points, as i am on my P's i only have 4 points, someone here have a brain can do the math, all comments would be great, i also need to get to work so is there any way i can get a work licence or go on probation or something???? cheers

i dont know how things are in brisbane, but here in syd you can get a probationary license. You must sit out for one month without driving then they give you 1 point for the next 12 months. suspension here is normally for 6 months for going 30 over the limit.
but then again, things are prolly different here in syd.

**** man Ipswich road is known for cops. I ride down there everyday to work and there is a cop there almost every day on the corner of Dexter street in moorooka right next to my work. They hide behind the tree there. As for the points thing im not sure. My mate got caught last week doing 115 in 60 zone, got a nice fine of $750 and strait away suspension of a year. But it was more then 40 over the limit. My other friend got caught doing 140 on the highway and he was on his P's. He got a choice of either suspension for 3 months and then gets 4 points back or 1 year with 1 point.

hope this helps

I know here in vic if you lose your license you get to choose - 12 months with 1 demerit, or 6 month loss of license.

You are lucky you are not in vic (just reading on vic roads website). Here if you accumulate greater than 5 points on your l's or p's in a single year the powers that be may choose to totally revoke (not just suspend) your license - meaning you would have to start back on your l's. (The same happens if you are on a full license and accumulate 12 or more in a given year).

well the authorities here are certainly obsessed with "road safety", that's for sure. The thing is they seem to define road safety as a combination of the following -
- continually lowering speed limits,
- continually dishing out harsher penalties
- continually focusing on speed as the only factor,
and generally ignoring / failing to police any other types of dangerous driving. I think its all been said before but the whole system seems pretty messed up and ignorant at the moment.
Seems we'll all be back on horse and carts if they follow things through to the logical conclusion...

Yup. But they are very kind to overseas people! When I first arrived I was driving (didn't have a bike, nor did I know how to ride at the time) and got pulled over for 115 kph in a 100 zone. In Canada 115 is not that excessive in a 100 zone... Anyways, showed the police officer my overseas license and he simply said to slow down, and that in Australia people do obey the speed limits. The end.

I was once pulled over on my bike for speeding (70 in a 60), showed my canadian license again (even though it was only for cars, but the officer didn't know that...), and again let me go with a warning.

Unfortunately my Canadian license is now expired, and am on a victorian license...

With that speeding ticket void, my sister just got a speeding tick and the cop put sedan but its a hatchback do u reacon they would void it?

i remember when i got my L's i told mum that i had to have a fully licensed driver sitting pillion the whole time, you should have seen her face. Priceless..... I always wondered if you could get out of a speeding ticket (camera) in victoria because all the fines are issues by Srgt R. ritchie even thogh my mate and i copped a fine within 30 mins of each other 50km apart issued by the same "person" and officer #. he would be doin pretty well to cover 50 km in 30 minutes and would have probably lost his license himself, hehehe
