Any of u guys tried this stuff? :icon_scratch: http://www.bikebiz.com.au/products/Engine-Ice-Motorcycle-Coolant-1.89L-.html http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CycleLogic-Engine-Ice-High-Performance-Coolant-TYDS008-/160904672256?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2576aa7400
$60 for the ebay link to get it to australia for the same price i can buy 3 of these and get 15 litres of coolant http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Nulon-Long-Life-Anti-Freeze-Anti-Boil-Ready-to-Use-5-Litre.aspx?pid=106646#Description better yet, buy just one of the above, and while at super cheap auto, buy a new thermostat, you want this - $16.98 and the product number is 7838 , the tridon part number is tt239-180 get the coolant and new thermostat for half the price or buy 2 of each for the same price
Im obviously aware I can go to supercrap, autobahn or freddys cycle shop and buy 100 different alternatives + a new socket set and have change to buy an icecream at maccas.... But my question is whether anyone here has used this product or knows someone who has....and their comments thereafter.... ??? And the blue will match my blue bike..... :-\
nope, never used it, looks like standard old coolant to me with a stupidly high price on it
hmmm, from what I have been told, not all coolants are the same... I need to flush mine on the cibby soon, stay tuned, Im going to do some research and see if I can get my runing temp down... mine sits on 79 degrees when Im cruising at 100 on a warm day.
change the thermostat. you can get them to open from about 60 degrees upwards. how lean is the bike running? too lean mean engine temp goes thru roof.what engine oil you running?i only use mobil 1 racing 4T. magic stuff. in my vfr800 just by using it compared to motul my engine temp dropped by 7 degrees.
I used to run water wetter from redline in my racing pocket bikes where it did make a quantifiable difference to them as they didn't have an engine driven pump (rear wheel drive only) and so regularly got up near 100c waiting on the grid. I was using it mainly because you couldn't run normal style coolant at the track but the performance bonus was a nice side effect Think it was $30 for the bottle. Can't say I've tried it in a bigger bike but i probably wouldn't given the stock cooling system works just sweet and using these kind of products as a band aid for a poorly performing coolant system is probably a pretty crappy idea haha
Hey Greyimports I haven't used this product before, however it does appear to have some acceptance amongst the racing public. It is available here in Australia. Had a closer look at the Co. website last night, some interesting data and it seems environmentally safe to use. I would welcome the chance to use it. Currently using Nolan's coolant in my Blackbird. The Blackbird runs pretty hot in traffic and much cooler on the highway. As for changing thermostats, I don't think so. the manufacturers make them to run that way, will rely on there expertise. At the end of the day, all appear to do similar job, that is raise the boiling point of H20 so that the bikes can run lean to satisfy the environmentalist. This is the world we live in today. Phil
I came across this stuff being discussed on another forum with a couple of guys swearing by it and using it in all their bikes.....but 1 was in the UK and 1 in the USA where its probably more readily available and "cheaper". As most people either commute in traffic or pleasure ride on a hot sunny day (or both) then using decent coolant would have to be a positive. And as my FZR is over 20 yrs old and most of my riding will be on pleasure rides into the countryside during summer I think id like to use something more than cheap SCA coolant. The other alternative is the "red" longlife stuff.... http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Nulon-Red-Long-Life-Anti-Freeze-Anti-Boil-Ready-to-Use-5-Litre.aspx?pid=106645&menuFrom=50405#Description Anyone tried it? Of course these highend products are made with racing in mind due to high temps and non slip ingredients when crashhes etc occur but Id also like to try it in "normal" riding situations. I wonder what is used in the top level bikes as in MotoGP ,superbikes etc.? :icon_scratch: Phil.....where do u get your Nolan coolant? .... I can only find a brief rundown on it on their UK website . Have u seen the Engine Ice on the shelves anywhere?
Hey Greyimports You got me, was I thinking about Casey Stoners Helmet made by Nolan. Nulon is what I use. Will endeavour to engage brain next time. Also for your info I came across a product called Liquid Intelligence 115 being put into a large capacity KTM off road bike. The web site is very informative and think this could be of interest to many. www.liquidintelligence.com.au To date I haven't seen Engine Ice on the shelves anywhere.
 yea Google was trying to tell me "do u mean nulon" ! Which nulon do u use? There is actually a nolan coolant... http://www.nolanoils.co.uk/antifreeze.php  Ill have a read of that site...looks interesting
Liquid Intelligence makes the Engine Ice look el cheapo! :o http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Street-Bike-Radiator-Super-Waterless-Coolant-2-Litre-Pack-LIQUID-INTELLIGENCE-/170933485907?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27cc6e0153
engine ice to me still sounds like an amazing waste of money. if your cooling system is working fine with no leaks and the thermostat is working fine and is set at the correct temperature, and your using half decent engine oil, and your engine oil is not low, and you have no coolant/oil leaks , and the cooling thermo fan is working correctly, then you have nothing to worry about. the vast majority of company's who sell motorcycles to the public usually have a few million dollars more to spend on R/D then me and the vast majority of the general public and i assume would have a far greater idea as to whats going on cooling wise then us who tinker in our sheds. use good oil eg- Mobil 1 Racing 4T use a cooler theromostat flush your cooling system use coolant, not water test the cooling/thermo fan and if it stuffed, replace it test the coolant hoses and if leaking, replace them ride and have fun!
oh yeah, and your not running your bike so lean that it gets hotter then a volcano in the cylinders, then your laughing
Hey Greyimport Was a at a shop yesterday getting a roadworthy on a bike. Whilst waiting had a chance to peruse the shop. Guess what I found??? Engine Ice for $30.00 a bottle. Asked the owner about it, he claims it is well suited to off roaders as some have very small radiators and tiny fans, if any. He claims he sells a reasonable amount. Just thought I'd share that with you. Phil
Thanx for the follow up.......sounds like its certainly not snake oil and has its place in non standard applications ..... and for the average bike use, if u have the budget Ripping along trails ,revving the crapper out of the bike on a hot summers day Im sure it would come into its own. cheers mate
