I wouldn't be skimping on oil, in a motor that revs to 16 or 17k. Motul 5100 is a really good semi-synthetic oil, I have used it for 7 years now in my ZX12R and lots of other people I know on big sports bikes all use this oil.

For the 2KR - I wouldn't be using anything cheap at all. A good semi-synthetic or fully synthetic oil is a must in small motors with high rpm ceilings.

Cheap car oils are designed for low-revving low-stressed motors, a lot of them also have additives that can cause issues with wet clutches. Stick to good motorcycle oil. Its worth the expense in the long run.

I have been using Penrite SIN Racing 20w60 and it has been keeping the engine well, we raced with a lighter semi synthetic on another engine and it went pop - big ends went. The Penrite SIN racing has proved good, it also is expensive though. However cheaper than a rebuild.
