    Ok tommorow I am going to tackle my oil filter, and for this I need to remove my exhaust. Being mechanically inept is there like a step by step process on the net I can use to remove and then re attach my exhaust?

    Taking the exhausts off are easy. Make sure you disconnect the exup cables and slowly start losening off the various nuts. Be organised so that you know where everything fits. It will be a good idea to change the exhaust outlet gaskets. If they are the fibre type, wiggle them out using a screwdriver and be careful to ensure that they are completely removed (they sometimes disentigrate). Order replacements immediately as they have to come in from overseas. Once the oil has been changed, replace the gaskets and refit the exhuast and reconnet the exup cable. Start the bike up and check that there is no leakage around the outlet port. If not, you're right to go.

    A good trick to remember is not to overtighten the various nuts. Bad mechanics always put on far too much tension. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

    Sorry, I forgot to mention that if you really get stuck, have a look at the FZR 400 manual available on this site. The process is very similar.

    Good luck! <!-- s:zzz: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sleeping.gif" alt=":zzz:" title="Sleeping" /><!-- s:zzz: -->

    Where is the exup cable? Those gaskets sounds dodgy, I'll have to be very carefull with them because I don't want to have to wait to get my bike back on the road.

    I am assuming that RVZ means the gaskets that plug the space between the headers and the actual engine. Ideally you would replace these, but not always necessary. You can change the oil filter without doing these.

    Exup cable - you will see where it attaches to the exhaust just under/beside your sidestand. You can choose to unhook these (in which case you also have to remove the rear left fairing to loosen the cables first), or you can be careful and simply 'rotate' the exhaust out of the way as RVZ has said.

    sorry i forgot to mention that u may have to clear the carbon away to see them. you can remove them by simply cutting them out with a knife. As boz says you dont have to replace them every oil change. If you buy replacements when the time comes they will be copper ones which should last for another 3 or 4 changes.

    cheers <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
