i dont know if ill ever get this bike running but dont wanna give up just yet!.. i had it running a month or two ago, but the fuel pump broke so i stored it... now i bought a new pump and when i tried to start it theres literally fire coming out of the carbs and they are almost popping off the engine as im trying to start it... any idea why this is happening? thanks for helping in advance! love the site!! marshall! dominican republic!
Hi colonialmotion, This is very interesting and it has happened to me before. Somehow I fixed the problem, although not sure how. This is what I did, check leads and connections, new spark plugs, drained fuel bowls, ran the bike for a while, and things just went back to normal. My bike was shooting flames out of number 3 and 4 carby. Remember these bikes are strange and a day can make a big difference. Best of luck.
Natas may be on to something - check the plug leads are on the correct cylinders, it's easy to get then wrong
My bike ran really bad all day (didn't idle, running on 2,3 cylinders). Not sure what the problem is. Riggle the spark plug leads where they connect with the spark plug attachment as the bike is running. My leads have zippy ties on them where they connect to the spark plug attachment, this holds everything together. The real story, went on the toy ride, bike did not start at the ride and required jumper leads to get it going. Rode it home not getting under 6k in revs. Pulled the tank and fairings off of it. Played with carbies, leads and spark plugs, still the same. Went to bed, got up the next morning hit the starter button and back to normal, just sat there idling like nothing had even happened to it. Like I said these bikes are weird. Will up date you all with hot start problem gone and bike running better soon.
thanks guys! im out o town right now, but as soon as i get home ill try it and tell you how it went! thank you!!
