3ln parts are interchangable with the exception of the taillight surround and fairing upper. The 3ln-1 has a different taillight and headlights making the fairings different. All others are the same

ahhh no most parts of 2kr and and 3ln they appear to u that they are interchangable but they are not they look near to eachother but there are slight differences which lead that parts not fit in their place most ppl think the parts are the same but they are not at all

You misunderstood me. All 3LN parts are compatible with 3LN with the exception of -1's. 2KR parts arent interchangeable with 3LN or vice versa.

Okay well; since I specifically said SERIES we can obviously NOT assume that WE said that 2KR IS compatible WITH 3LN...

Reason why I was asking was because, most of us have a "fairly" clear idea of the model of our bikes, but since they are imports (and models aren't that highly considered to this degree) it's hard to know where to get parts from as well, which is why I asked.

I'm looking at getting new fairings or even purchasing a spare bike purely as parts. RATHER than buying them brand new, I'd also like to do all the work myself.

Is it possible IF I purchased all of the fairings (including front light and rear ductail) and fit it onto mine, assuming (not just because I said so...) I have a 3LN-1 and the said bike to be purchased from is a 3LN-3 (or so they say...)

Can you please be more specific on "tailight surround" (as in the white bit that says Yamaha or holds rear lights) and "fairing upper".

The tailight surround is the plastic piece that goes around the taillight. On the 3LN-3 through 7 the taillight is flush with this piece and is different. Also, the 3LN-1 is the only FZR250 that uses twin round FLUSH headlights. Not recessed as on the 2KR. Therefore, the fairing upper (part with the windscreen and mounts headlights) is different from the 3LN-3 and latter. The same applies to the subframe that it mounts to. Other than that, all other plastic is the same. Seat sides and the small piece behind the seat, fairing lowers (the big side pieces), fuel tank, and windscreen are all the same. Again, THIS IS ONLY ON THE 3LN, THE 2KR IS ALL DIFFERENT. On a side note, the inner fairings that mount above the ram air tubes is also unique to the 3LN-1.

your bike and the one being offered for sale are the same (3ln-3)
it seems like the bike for sale has had the rear tail light mounted on the outside for some reason

Yep, you don't have a 3LN-1. It's a -3. Any plastic from a -3 or later will fit your bike.

That would be the most expensive free drink ever!! <!-- s:alcoholic: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_all_coholic.gif" alt=":alcoholic:" title="Alcoholic" /><!-- s:alcoholic: --> Although I have always wanted to visit Australia. Your country isn't nearly as anal or politically correct as the US. Glad I could help

Australia is a very laid back country.

Even the PM is like that.
