    hey all, i have a problem again, this time it is brakes.
    1.
    my front left pad scuffs on my rotor so i get off and discover that my right rotor is near cold while the left is untouchable for more than a second, unless u are one who likes burnt fingers. i waited for it to cool and now i am wondering, how much are rotors supposed to move before they are farked, my right one is nice and firm, but my left one rattles and flaps around. my pads have heaps of meat still but crumbling on the edges as well. no idea how old they are.

    2.
    i changed the pads on the rear and now they are scuffing badly. the pistons were extreemly hard to push back in. now when u guys say that two fingers should do the job, is this with the bleed screw open, as i didn't have it open. i also didn't bleed them after. can someone tell me where i went wrong please.

    sorry to dig up old thread i'm just a bit thick sometimes. i have read the other forums and i would just like to confirm if i am correct.

    You poor, poorboy.. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> watch your fingers..

    1) It sounds like you have a sticking piston in one caliper, thus the heat. Corrosion is a real problem if the brake fluid is not replaced at regular intervals. Not about the wobbly rotor, but I would say its needs replaced, as I have never seen one loose.

    2) When you say it is scuffing badly, I take it you mean the rear rotor??

    I have always found the pistons hard to move in the caliper.

    hi dave,

    yer i was thinking so too. lol. the little spacer-like things where the disk floats on are loose and can be rattled with my fingers. the brake fluid in the front is brown lol. when i clean out the calipers i would like to replace seals, is it necessary though, are they expensive to get new ones.

    and yer the rear pads are scuffing on the rotor, i put the bike on my service stand and can hardly spin the rear wheel.

    Those seals are very expensive from the Yamaha dealers. Not sure if they are available from other sources, hopefully other members may know and reply. I remember miy pistons were very hard to get out, I used compressed air and took out one piston at a time, put a block between two opposing pistons and clamped one other so only one was free to pop out. If you do it that way use a fair wad of rag to stop the piston flying out and getting the fingers. They went in a bit easier when the bores were cleaned.

    yer i think i will clean out my rear caliper as it was hard to push pistons back in. but the front are ok i thing cause i can push them back in with 2 fingers and a thumb. what is the best way to flush ur brake fluid in front and rear to replace it all.
