i just bought a 92 fzr 250 the other day, was looking over the bike and found a cable sitting under the fuel tap not connected to anything, it is fairly short about 20-30cms and goes to something on the top of the motor (cant see in there very well).

any ideas what this cable is and where it is supposed to go. everything seems to work fine, but dont like any loose ends <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Cheers in advance for any help

Do you have a fuel pump?

Sorry, my question was a little bit short and sweet.
A very common practice for these bikes is to remove the fuel pump, which would result in a short cable not being plugged in to anything. It should have 2 wires and a plastic harness at the end of it.

Comes directly from the carbs, used to have a nice lever on it, the bracket has broken and the lever fell off from vibration or was taken off. Very common for the bracket to break from fatigue.

or maybe just leave it. i never really used the choke, it just made the bike stall. (and yes, even in the middle of winter with 0 degrees morning starts)

Mine too.!! I just get the revs up to 3-4000 as soon as it starts for about 10-20 seconds and hold the throttle steady untill the revs starts to build by itself (when its real cold) and then it will idle ok while I put on the jacket and helmet. If I dont do this on the real cold mornings it will stall and not fire up unless I run start down my steep driveway and get a lot of revs up.
