I was lookin to see how clean my air filter was today, and noticed the rubber things that connect the back of the carbs to the air filter had small gaps around them, as if the air filter was not put on properly , gettin it check by the place i bought if from on Thursday but i was wondering will it do any damage to the engine or any other parts?? btw i have a 93 fzr 250 3ln1, thanks guys

    Air box

If its a small gap and by this I mean 1mm then it shouldnt be a problem but any larger than that it will become a problem. I had this problem so I just put silicone on the gaps and it fixed it. Thing slike dirt and grit among other things can enter the engine if this is not fixed. It can also unbalance the air flow into the carbs, because Yamaha has designed the airbox to work with the carbs in the best way possible and if you start changing the airflow but adding more air and drilling holes to let more air in it changes everything.

    I hope that has helped.
