Unlikely but im wondering if anyone has either a shitty old front guard for a 2kr, or just the metal plate which is actually rivited onto the mud gaurd. Mines decide to crack on one side...and over time its pretty much come right off.

I dont wanna spend the money getting a whole new guard at wreckers..coz then id have to match paint up and spray it....not really worth the money.

which part is cracked? cos if its the plastic, grab yourself a fibreglass repair kit and do a repair job.... its not hard to do and surprisingly strong.... you might have to clean the underside of that guard tho...cos its pretty crazy under there....

Nah its the metal plate part that is rivitted to the plastic guard unfortunetly. Because it has snapped on one side..close to both the nuts, Ive put a washer under the bolt to hold the plate, if that makes any sense.

Anyhow..works like a treat for the momment. Not sure whether to bother getting it welded or not.

    front guard

my front mud guard came off the other day and i didn't bother getting it welded because of the rough rodes around where i am at the moment would just break it again soon. i got the mechanics to track another one down for me and it cost about $150

cheap way of fixing (and extends from grendals solution) is find some small washers that would fit, and loc-tite them to the bracket. May not be perfect, but much better than $150!

yep...mine broke at all four corners on my trip bak to melb...
alll i done was put washers under the bolts to hold the mount "together" as dean has done...seems to b fine for now. dont think itll b really worth it spending 150 for a new fornt guard. would cost 50 if that to egt it welded i guess..

ive had my biek a while n noticed some things startign to crack etc. its proly due to the age of the bike so wont worry bout it too much unless it mite b dangerous.

Looks like i'm off to Bunnings for some washers and a bolt (or 2).
The damn bolts came off the back of my speedo mount; looks like i didnt screw them up tight enough after replacing my speedo cable.

Yep, well the washers are working well so far.
Just wondering if anyone else gets a really nasty knock noise when going over a moderate bump. I know its the front wheel guard as when i took it off i wasnt getting the noise.

I had that noise on my bike, checked it out. It was the front mudguard hitting the wheel. I took a look at it and it was missing two screws one was half way out and the other was loose. I think they must rattle out over time, guard hits the wheel and cracks or snaps it off. Mine was ok but when I replaced the screws I put some thread locking tape on them so they wouldn’t come out from vibration. My 3ln has 4 mounting screws for the front guard, just check they are all in tight and check for cracks in the guard.
