Ive got an FZR250 engine here that is surplus to requirements.
    2KR model 8/88 build.

Apparently these go quite well. 250cc 4cyl 4 stroke 16500 rpm screamer.
Showing 52,000 kms on the odometer, matching engine and frame number so i would assume this is correct kms.

It is not running and i have not had it running.
I assume it was dropped when it was running as the stator cover is scratched up and cracked and the side fairings were not removed using the bolts as they were still in the frame with little bits of broken off fairing around them.
It came to me missing the carbs so i am not able to start it.

Turns over fine with a spanner on the end of the crank.
Hooked it up to a battery and it cranks over fine.
Comes with the exhaust (no end can) and the EXUP box and servo motor which was working when cranking.
Will sell it with wirring loom but missing a few plugs for the dash, ignition and switch gear. CDi is there but the outer plastic box/housing is cracked, i assume it will still work.
Comes with starter motor and all that stuff, coils etc.

No cooling system, but you would want better than a FZR radiator anyway if you were to use it in a cart etc. I do have a few random dirt bike radiators here.

I was going to compression test it but the spark plugs are some tiny little toy like things.

More than welcome to bring some carbs and see about getting it running. It will be sitting in the frame for a little while longer.

Didnt you get jipped with a Zeal motor for yours??

If everyone thinks they are worth heaps and you dont that might go some way to explaining why you dont have one yet.

The price you pay for owning an import.

    Hope you find one.

Mine is getting a nice common XT600 motor.
Was going to be a Banshee motor but it was going to cost too much.
The though aslo crossed my mine about using the wheels etc on a RD or RZ 350.

nah its a mixture of 1hx/2kr/3ln

and i mean in tassie the only ones i have found are $1000 and over and i have only found one that doesnt need to the bottom end to be rebuilt for $1500 but then still need piston rings etc.

cheapest $500 but there all in the same situation as mine haha

thats going to be a fun job fitting and lining up

    Nah fairly easy.

Swap to a DT200R swingarm, make some bushes to space the dog bone location point on the under side of swingarm.
Then the swingarm will take the rear of the engine, chain alignment will be OK.
Then just set the angles up on the motor and make up some mounts for the front.

Get the fuel tank opened up and tripple that sucker in size.

I might also have to put in some bars to reinforce the frame and give it some strength back.

The motor is the same HP as the 2KR but the torque is 2.5x more. Will just swap to a 520 rear sprocket.

Bes thing is, if you keep an eye open, 90 on XT's pop up all the time for around the $1000 mark.

I put an XT600 motor in my buggy. Plenty of pulling power, only it was a kick start. The later ones had electric leg <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

    Plan is changing.

    Bought these the other night.
Lets just say for a price i could not refuse.

    Neither had keys.
Had to strip the farings off both and remove the ignition barrels. Luckily the RZ had 10mm headed bolts and the RG 5mm cap heads, not those shear off bolts that i would have had to drill out.
On the RG the kickstarter shaft is snapped off flush with the casing, i bought a SH shaft off eBay yesterday and ive got a guy i can lend a kickstarter off. See if i can get it running. Will probably sell the motor as a runner if it will go. Keep the pipes and maybe carbs.

The RZ is a bit beyond it, the frame is a write off, feel sorry for the poor sod that was on it, would have to have hurt a bit. Bit of a shame as it looks like it was a pretty neat matching numbers bike. Full left lock is straight ahead. Had to strip off the calipers and cut away part of the mangled rim to get it to roll.
Throttle cable is seized up, but through the kick starter it feels good.

    Good parts bike.

So theres a bit of work to just get the pair running, then i will work out from there what im doing.

Nah not doing a YammaGamma. But i should.
Im thinking RZ motor into FZR frame.
But will probably go with a RDLC with FZR front and rear wheel and brake. A mate of mine has offered to swap a complete RDLC in bits for whats left of the RZ once ive pulled the motor.

Sell the RG motor and go on the hunt for a DRZ-400 or DR650 motor. Got a 17" rear wheel sussed out, just need a 17" front end. Might just offload the whole RG yet.
