I now have 16 BDST28s to play with .... I havnt slept with them under my pillow yet but nightmares .... yes

Yea I also love that colour scheme ... thats a well presented bike...... is it a 3LN3 or 5?

A parts source could be a handy thing with this new FZR we have. :D

With your cam chain how did u come to the conclusion to have it replaced?

The chain slap is loud and want a check by mechanic on valves so figure for a extra couple hundred get new set! Im ok with mechanical but prefer to get checked by someone who nows. Gonna learn on the spare bike. Mine is a 3ln5 I believe and spare bike I just found out is a 3ln3 thanks to link on here which brings me to this question are parts able to be used on both?

Also running not well thinking due to timing and carbs think I will be rebuilding them very soon something more in my skill zone than the engine atm

Ahh good stuff! .... the valve clearances are vital as is the carbs being spot on..... as u can tell by the threads here on the FZRs!

Heres a rundown on the cam chain tensioner on the 3LN1 (Id assume its the same for the later models.)
The CCT itself is not (from what I believe) something that wears out or needs replacing from general use.
    http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/my-fizzer.872/page-4#post-7827

There are numerous things like the 1 has an internal oil filter ...the 3 has an external spin on , petcock , CDI , headlight (obviously) and other things that Ive found are different from the 3LN1 to the 3 , and Ive only just worked on the 3 a couple of hours.
I know also the 3LN3 jet housing in the carbs is different.

Dont know , but Id think the 3 and 5 would be closer to matching in all or most departments ... I guess time will tell!
If you check out the parts catalogue u will find that theres alot of areas have a 3LN1 part and a superceded part for the 3,5,6 and 7 kind of thing.

If you are eventually going to work on these bikes alot get yourself a set of these ... u wont regret it :thumb_ups:

Can u do me a favour and look at your 3LN3 and tell me if your fork tube is raised like this or level with the top surface of the tree.
Also Im assumimg that the throttle cable housing should travel under the switch block (and under the brake master) .... not across the top.

    Thanx mate.

Your assumption for the throttle cable is correct. Some people adjust the forks, raising the tube a bit putting more over the front, seen with racing bike often. From memory Mark does this on his bikes.

That is inexcusable in my opinion. Probably a first year apprentice or something like that. Hope that is the end of the bad news, after all it is TIME TO RIDE!!
