Was just doing some browsing across the forums, found a few guys using FZR250s (3LN) on track. A lot of those posts were quiet old, so I thought I'd revive the conversation and hopefully pick the brains of a few of you. I'm wondering what peoples preferred sprocket sizes and tyre choices are, I've seen a few saying that Moto3 Slicks go well on the 3LNs. But others suggesting closer to the stock tyre sizes for grip benefits. As for gearing, I guess it depends on the tracks, but I'd primarily be riding at Luddenham, SMSP and Pheasant Wood, so a bit of a range but preferably something that can get to decent speeds whilst not sacrificing too much torque. Side note: if anyone knows of a good place to get fiberglass race fairings that more or less fit, please let me know (willing to modify a fair bit as I'm relatively proficient at working with fiberglass, but the less work the better)

I have been told the Mitas small bike race tyres are some of the best, nice and sticky. Not sure if the 100 front and 130 rear are available, thats if you stick to stock tyre size. If you decide you dont need slicks.... I gave a set of Pirelli Diablo 2's a flogging on a CBR250R to work through Galston Gorge every day, they hung on well, wore evenly and hardly made a dent on them. I have Metzler Sportec Street on my 3ln1 and they are awesome, available in the correct size to, amazing in the wet as well. Do you have another set of wheels?
Slicks would be nice when riding it around on track days, but eventually my plan is to run it in P6 Series so won't be able to use them then. But cheers for that I'll definitely look into the Mitas race tyres. From my research a 100 front and 130 rear is as big as you really want to go, so I'll have a look if they have anything in that size or smaller. Otherwise, I could always give the Diablo 2s a run, as it would be convenient for days when weather isn't perfect. Fortunately I do have a second FZR, which is looking like it could be a parts bike as someone has taken a hammer and screwdriver to the throttle plates. Unless anyone knows where to get some? That being said that means I have a spare set of wheels.

This guy has some side fairing listed in his ebay store, if you drop it, they're the two parts most likely to suffer damage https://avenue748fairings.com/brands https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/264217495647
For FZR250 standard sizes, you can get Diablo Rosso Sport. But they are a bias/cross ply tyre. I have not had the chance to use mine in anger yet, but I will report on them when I do. Going to 110/140 front/rear combo opens up your tyre choices, but compromises handling, they definitely aren't as nimble. On the track that might work, on the street you'll want the agility. You can get Dunlop Alpha 14s in 110/140 for 17 inch rims. I ran them on my ZXR because it was the best tyre available in the standard size (18" rear). They are good tyres and I can vouch for them. But they won't last and they dry rot in the sidewalls after some time (about 6 months when the bike is stored outdoors). The performance and standard sizing (along with cost price from work) made them worth it.
