    Dang, I hate it when that happens.

    A make-shift rear stand would consist of the following:
    2 small hydraulic bottle jacks
    2 small pieces of wood

    Now this set up IS NOT going to be super stable, but will provide enough to do tire changes, chain maintainence, wheel cleaning, etc...

    Place the wood on top of the jacks and place the jacks under the swing-arm. Position them about 2.5-5cm in front of the rear axle. MAKE SURE they are even. I recommend having someone assist you when doing this, but it can be done alone. Having someone hold the bike level makes it easier for the obivious reasons.

    Start jacking up the left side first, slowly. I recommend being on the right side of the bike to add just the smallest pressure to keep the bikes attitude on the down hill. As the bike comes up off the side stand and starts to near center/upright, stop and raise the other(right-side) jack until it just touches the swingarm. Then back to the left to center it up.

    Taking the bike down is the reverse, but a little trickier. You don't have the same slow controled movement coming down as you did going up. The first thing when getting ready to lower the bike is to MAKE SURE the sidestand is down. Lower the bike as slowly as possible untill the tire is touching the ground. Again position yourself to the right side of the bike and lower the left jack as slowly as possible and applying a little pressur to make sure the bike is headed in that direction.

    And your done.

    You only need the wheel off the ground, it doesn't have to be shoulder high <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->. 10mm at most.

    No, I have never had to use this method as I have both front and rear stands, and my past bikes had cenetrstands. I've seen the pic's and this is a relatively common sense approach that I use when using my rear stand.

    PLEASE Be Careful!!!!

    Hope this helps someone.
