Hi how is everyone? Hope everyone had a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Been a while since I've posted here. Thought id check in with how my bikes going.

As some know, my bike was stolen and then recovered a few months ago. Police were not willing to help with transport so I had to pick it up myself, from Seacliff to Elizabeth, bit of a drive. Sucked balls as I had no money or means to get it.

Atm, the bike is in the shed with all fairings off and cams off for valve clearances. Cylinders #1 and #4 are both worryingly below spec for intake and exhaust clearances. If anyone has any shims they wanna swap or sell me would be great ha. Funds are so very tight now and having the bike in pieces blows. Damage from the thiefs seems to be limited to plastics and ignition barrel and tank lock (yes they tried to get fuel out of a tank, I have no idea why maybe the meth had something to do with that.)

Currently tossing up with whether I want to respray the bike or not, there are so many paint cracks and cracks in the plastic too, all the paint would have to come off to repair properly. I honestly don't know if I have it in me to paint it again. It's a huge job.

Regarding clearances, my clearances were all different to some degree but shim size was all the same, is that normal? Indicates to me the valves are wearing differently. Also, do I just calculate the new shim by new shim =(recorded clearance - spec clearance) + old shim?

Thanks in advance for the help guys. Cheers!

for the clearances they will all wear differently, its usually a sign of valve wear on those 2 cylinders if they are wearing quicker, as long as clearance isnt at 0 no need to worry (yet). if the size of the shims are all the same im guessing the clearances havent been done, and if your bike has 25+k's on it, the clearances should really be done.

to get the size of the shim you need, record the clearance and add or subtract what you need to make it spec.

eg. shim size is 190, clearance is 0.15 and spec is 0.2-0.3, subtract 10 to make the new shim 180.

sorry for the lat reply aswell.
