I was riding along Gt Eastern Highway near Perth this morning about 7.45 am. I was in the middle lane of three lanes when a car suddelny moved across into my lane from the left mssing my front wheel by centimetres. The car pulled across into the outside lane and we all stopped at the traffic lights opposite Burswood Casino with the offending car several lengths away in front. Then I heard another bike coming behind me and he filtered up to the car, tapped on the window and either gently told the driver off (or gave her a serve) about nearly hitting me. I didn't get a chance to catch up and say thanks for looking out for me. Was the good deed for the day.
That is why I never ride beside cars/truck when on multi lane roads. I stay one space back, or give it a squirt and get in front of them. I had a ute pull out from a T junction yesterday on my right yesterday. When we stopped he said "sorry mate I didn't see you". I asked him was there something wrong with his eyes, or did he not look? Either way he was at fault for not seeing a large bright red motorbike with its headlight on.
Monday morning I rode down to our local shopping centre, a distance of no more than 2 K's. Pulling out of our estate I find myself behind a Nissan x-trail that is wandering from side to side. Best judgement is stay well away from said vehicle, the vehicle indicates that it's turning left towards the shops. I follow looking to park in the motor bike section, the x-trail promptly stops in front and decides to reverse into park without any indications. I was clear (just) and by this stage shaking my head when the driver, a woman rolls down her window and shouts out " wouldn't happen if you weren't up my ass ". I lifted my visor and replied, lady don't flatter yourself no one would want to be up your ass!!!! and proceeded to park my bike. Some people?????
A few total strangers helped me out with @Grasshopper 's bike today, from lifting it up to making statements with the police etc... turned out to be the storm from last night in the end, let the coppers know, they were grateful for not having to spend any more time on it
