Does/did anybody else find that the Megelli low beam/high beam headlights are quite inadequate at lighting up the road at night?

I personally found that the original setup seemed to be quite dangerous when travelling on backroads, neighbourhoods with little to no street lighting.  So I decided to upgrade to a HID setup for both high and low and have dual high beams.

I had a little trouble on the way, but the end result was HID low beam - and dual HID original high beam.  Has anyone else tried this with their Megelli or other bike for that matter and got both beams working as I have - expect with HID for both: low by itself and HID high/low?  I think all I was missing was a diode in my setup...but wondering if there was any other method that people have tried.

Now with all that being said, I'm happy with the result anyway, low beam is much brighter and the beam spreads further.

A few quick snaps of what it looks like, a bit messy, but its only a run about so will work on it when i have spare time.  But does the job, lights are so much better.

I bought a HID kit from china, took a while to arrive.  "HID H1 35W 6000K" from ebay, any of the kits should work - I've used these on a number of cars with out a problem so went ahead and bought a car kit for use on the bike.  I also bought a set of warning cancellers "inline capacitors" for peace of mind - as these make a big difference when being used on a car when there is quite a bit of load on the system at times.  This however does increase the amount of wire that is required to be tidied up, hence the little bit of rats nest that has occurred with my setup.  Note that the kit itself is not a straight fit and required intervention.  If someone else has tried this with a bulb that does not require adjustment that would definitely be the better option.  The original bulb is shorter in length by a fraction and the fitting at the back is a little different.  This could be because I purchased a car kit, any comments?  I'll see if i can get some comparison photos of the new and old bulbs for comment soon too.
