My bike started to whistle on the way to work yesterday. It did not get any worse on the way home witch is about 45km I stopped in at the bike shop that I go to and the head mechanic took it for a ride and he said cam chain or tensioner but if it was the chain I thnk it would be knocking I think it might be the cam chane tensioner or maybe the water pump bearing. It's ther all the time clutch in or out in gear or out of gear and piks up with the revs Im going to the guy that did my head last time today and c what he says the bike has done 34000km I had the shims dun at 22000km and all was good then.
du's any one now if the water pump has a bearing in it or a bush in it going to take the clutch out and take a look at the bearing
if you have a long screw driver, you can try pushing the tip of it on to different parts of the bike, then put the handle (plastic handle type prefered, not sure if rubber handles will work as well) to your ears and listen to see if the noise matches what you are hearing. or if you manage to get a hold of a stethoscope, then it'll be easier to listen for the source of the noise.
It go's away at 8000rpm and the bike has done about 400km now and it has not got any whors I'v got a clutch cover gaskit in the post so I can take out the clutch to look at the bearing I gess im going to have to go into the left side if it's not the clutch <!-- s:???: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":???:" title="Confused" /><!-- s:???: --> Thanks for the reply
Hey All, Ive got a similar whine with my FZR which has me a little concerned. Whistles with engine rev, regardless of clutch in or out. does anyone have any ideas? Rob.
