Im so devostated with my megelli experience as, especially being a female young rider and this being my first road bike can any one help me with advice on charging my battery??????
could be battery or charging system.sinh at stoney creek is off for 10 day holiday but if you email him will be checking emails from os.battery is under petrol tank. need to remove side covers, pillion seat, riders seat, turn off fuel and remove line from petrol tank[lhs] and fuel gauge line [rhs]remove black panel around ignition lock and then lift tank back and up.battery is in plastic case. remove earth black wire first . then active red wire. battery can then be lifted out, take to battery place and have checked. may not be battery... cold start can be spark module or valve clearance and latter for hot start. describe symptoms and i will try to help. i have 2 megelli,s[water cooled] and enjoy them.
Welcome to the forum ;D Now..help with "charging the battery" :icon_scratch: Does that mean ...the battery is flat and the bike wont start, therefore it needs to be removed and re charged ? Or....you have the battery out and its flat and u dont know what to do next? Or....the battery is ok but its not being charged as u ride?
thank you so much im 99 % sure i just have a flat battery, and my old house mate used to just put my bike on charge for me wihout taing the tank out and evrything, i just cant remember how we did it and ino longer live in qld with him ive already replaced the reg rectifier twice and replaced the battery and everything was running fine, but i havent ridden in 4-5 days and now it wont start lol
If u dont do some regular long rides it wont charge enough.... Is it an older type where u have to top up the acid or a gel or AGM that is sealed? If its a fairly new one the best thing would be to remove it and take it to a bike shop and ask if they will charge it overnight for u.....thats if u have no one who has a charger that can help u out. Keeping it charged will of course depend on if its just lack of riding or theres an underlying problem elsewhere.
Welcome to the forum for a start. I am not sure how hard the battery is to get to but if it is as hard as risky has decribed then a getting a charger with a plug that is attached to the battery permantly and the charger is just pluged into it to keep the battery topped up with a trickle charger. Going flat after a couple of days dosn't sound good but it just may be not riding enough to get a good charge into the battery when you do ride it. The bike shop should be able to check the charge voltage for you easy enough.
pd, top idea. easy to do once battery is accessible. one red wire from positive and black wire from negative and shielded on other end to prevent short, female spade terminals would do the trickand they could be colour coded to. battry is not easy on these bikes to quickly access. then a cheap trickle charger to put the juice in. one of the self regulating ones.
THIS MAY SOUND SILLY...CHECK THE KILL SWITCH as the bike will wind over and not start and will flatten the battery. also choke is off as motor can flood.
if you buy a battery charger get the one with 3 red lights and a green one when charged as these self regulate. some just charge and you can cook the battery.supacrap has some for 40$ roughly.
welcome  ! hope your rides ok , ive been through 2 batteries on mine in under a year , first one dropped a cell :BangHead: , second was 'faulty ??? '.
