hey. names Louisa and im from country Vic.
got my first bike the other month thanks to my partner. shes a 98 yamaha fzx250 Zeal. prior to me owning her, the previous owner got her up to scratch and was about to get her roadworthied and registered but he lost his license 2 days before his appointment. so he didnt bother. she has sat in a shed for 3 years and he detailed her the day he lost his license. she has a few issues that we're sorting through. carbs being 1, but working on that at the moment. fork seals and a wonky headlight. hoping to change the headlight once she is registered because i cant stand the 1 on it atm haha. anyways, have only recently gotten into bikes, im a car nut (subarus to be specific haha) but i am hoping to learn as much as i can about my bike!!

here is a pic of my bike (purple) and what im wanting to do to her (black) 11041677_10152627822556566_1230703400363989028_n.jpg 1217752689_080801_carportrait.com.au_250_002.jpg

    cheers

Hi, welcome along and happy posting!!

sorry i couldn't help you earlier with the carbs. Your Zeal looks mint and i like the idea of the street fighter look! i'm guessing thats your scooby in the backgound?

    Welcome.

You will want to put a litetek kit through your carbs: http://litetek.co/Carb_Kit_Yamaha_Zeal.html

Since the FZX250 uses the same carbs as FZR250R 3LN6/7, you shouldn't have any trouble with the needles and emulsion tubes wearing out.

The FZX250 is the same engine as an FZR250/R but with different cams (tuned for torque, lower redline)

Round headlight is best headlight for the Zeal. That other thing is ugly!

If the bike has a bad rattle even with the clutch pulled in, it may need a new cam chain or tensioner. Look below

grasshopper, im on the hunt for a round 1, i hate the 1 it has haha. hoping to find a set of small twin projector style lights.
hoping once theyre rebuilt then she starts. she does need a new clutch cable but ive already sourced that. apart from that, everything else on her is good!!!

The Fizzer Factory has some spare dual headlight assemblies from FZR's that may just plug in and work
