I think it is a great idea, in fact I have been planning to do the same, with the exception of one 'FZR' sticker and one 'YAMAHA' sticker. If is done right it will be nice as.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

so, any ideas for other great colours for the FZR ? im thinking of painting mine but as yet im very unsure of the colours. the black seems very tempting now.

also, there are a few places on the fairings i would need to get a plastic weld done. any ideas about the cost for this ?

well, my gf just resprayed her bike (zzr250) hot pink.... you could always go down that path.

Personally I like colours that are different. Every man and his dog has a bike that's blue or black (no offence to those with these colours, but it's true). I guess that's why I fell in love with mine the first time I saw it (it's bright orange).

I like ducati yellow as well (it's not particularly common), and a nice metalic green (note it has to be a shade that can't be mistaken for kawasaki green ).

... basically anything that's not common.

No, I like the clean wet look of black. Not keen at all on Kawasaki green, red, blue or hot pink! I will have to keep an eye out for the zzr, can’t be too many hot pink bikes in Canberra, what happened to the Across? I would have to agree on a deep metallic Jaguar racing type green or a dark metallic grey.....mmmm.

Don't EVER paint a bike ducati yellow - haven't you heard of the curse of the Ducati yellow Suzuki Acrosses!? There were two of them that were painted the same colour... and the owner put it up for sale in about 2003, in late 2005 it finally sold. Why? No one could deal with the colour!

I too am getting ready to respray. I too am going with black, but to an extreme as well, as I'm powdercoating the frame black. I'll accent it with gold and yellow. That along with a trans swap, should be ready by the end of Feb.

(out of interest, are you doing the yzf750 transmission swap?)

Hopefully I'll have the complete teardown and rebuild documented with photos as well as the finished product.

All in all, I figure that it is going to set me back about $1000 USD.
That includes 2 lower plastics, 2 rear plastics, 1 fuel tank, 1 6-speed (yes Spook, out of a YZF750), complete gasket set, misc. bearings, timming chain and sprockets, clutch pack, and paint (PPG Black & PPG Gold). And a bunch of friends that are going to help me for free. One is going to help with the engine, one is going to help with the carbs and head, one to helps with the frame, and lastely one to paint the plastics.

    The project starts in Feb.

hey, just thought i would share my ideas on here...

my fairings look great, untill you actually look at them carefully... then you see all the breaks, scrapes, and ****....

so im buying new fairing, and spraying it black chrome. this is soooo cool. check it out.

PS: anyone know who sells 3LN tail pieces?? i have the front cowling, and both front pieces, just need to find the back end bits...new if possible.
