Hi All, New member here from Perth WA, just purchased a 1980 Honda CB 250RSA and found this site researching fixes and bits ect, great source of info especially TechHeadFred's post on his CB250 Restoration, great info. Got a feeling I'll be back quite often and will in time post a few pics before and after Cheers Paul
Hi Paul, good to know it's appreciated. I have fallen behind on updates both on my blog and the restoration threads here but plan to fix that shortly. There is a seller in Perth on eBay who has a lot of CB250RS stuff I've bought from before. I also have an uncle over there I should visit again at some stage! CMS are good for NOS parts but can be a expensive. There's also a lot of stuff on Yahoo Auctions Japan - I've bought stuff from there through Jauce.com that is hard to find over here. Let me know if you need any parts they don't have and I'll try to point you somewhere to find them if I don't have them.
Thanks TechHeadFred, The bike whilst tatty is pretty much complete, I will need to refurbish the front brake caliper and reservoir so I will need new parts for the O rings and other bits associated. What would make life easier though would be a Parts list schematic of the bike, searching by part numbers would make life a lot easier. I'll let you know if I need anything else and I look forward to reading your updates Cheers Paul
@GreyImport beat me to the punch! Ask and ye shall receive Also get in touch with MotoRetro - they have plenty of NOS parts for pre-1985 Japanese bikes. I just ordered a speedo from them and the service has been great so far despite not having a searchable parts catalogue.
I'm South of the River in Wilson although the bike is currently in Bibra Lake (until I tell the handbrake that I have bought it)
hi there, i own a '84 rs, witch is the same, i think, i've bought some parts from cms in the past with great satisfaction, they deliver in time with no great costs, that is to say i live in belgium the neighbouring country, maybe the costs to your part of the world will be more but they have good service. all the luck and fun with tinkering and riding the little honda
Thanks Jo, I've been on their site which is brilliant because I can get the part numbers ect have ordered a few parts so I will be rebuilding soon and then stripping down to get stuff re chromed and powder coated, got a feeling this might take me a few months I might even start a thread in the Projects Forum.
I have 1980, 1982 and 1983 models. The later models have different styled paintwork and the petcock has a larger diameter thread. The 1983 model has a different master brake cylinder too.
Hey TechHeadFred, My master Cylinder needs rebuilding however, they seem to charge like a wounded bull for the parts which are hard to find new, what is the difference between the 1980 and the 1983 master cylinder, I'm thinking perhaps I could find an 83 one somewhere and fit that, the parts seem more readily available. Cheers Paul
