    Hi Riders & wrenchers.

Many thanks to all the members who has replied.

Can anyone advise how to efficiently test a CBF250 cdi with a multi meter as this may be a failed unit. You can’t get these anymore in the UK.
I found a company near London who can repair them for mega bucks, £141 Brit Pounds, $ouch!

The cdi part reference is:- DENSO AZ071000 3070 QCD07 KPFK
    or DENSO AZ071000 2600 QCC60 KPFG

    Thanks for your help

    Hog

    Hi Andy

    Thanks for the shout out!

Just bought a similar one off Ebay ‘off a running bike’ and it does nothing?
I’m trying to find the correct way to test them. The barn find bike came with the same one, this doesn’t function and fire up either!

Like your bike buddy, it’s a credit to you.

    Best regards

This is a snip from Manuals lib that is supposedly a workshop manual from a 2010 CBF250 so not sure if they are the same.

You can also get a digital membership to Haynes manuals... they may have a manual for it as well.

A lot of the "test" procedure are useless. Please read this article. http://www.jetav8r.com/Vision/IgnitionFAQ.html
Fitting alternative electronic ignitions to a motorcycle is not really that difficult provided you can find a programable TCI unit. I would not recomend using a real CDI as they are actually dangerous and can kill you. You don't need that much spark.

If you've got two ignition boxes both of which don't spark, look at the trigger pulse from the stator pickup - check wire continuity between the sensor wires and the TCI box plug first step, then resistance through the pickup if you haven't already
