My thoughts too. A lot of tuning issues come back to incorrect valve clearances. Valve too tight (particulary exhaust) will cause a 'half miss' until the cylinder head heats up and expands enough to allow some clearance. Too loose and the rocker or cam will be pounding on the valve stem sounding like a hammer hitting the cylinder head. It is always wise to check the clearances before stripping the engine looking for mechanical faults or before trying to tune carburettors.

I've never seen inside a Spada, so cannot advise you. Go to the manuals section and it may tell you how to check them.

Could do. Have fixed a few engines that have been 'unable to be tuned' by checking and adjusting the valve clearances.

doesnt want to start at all today some times sounds like the cogs are hitting each other unless its the valves hitting the pistons ?
