Well know that we know there are people out there that own FZR250s lets see what you guys think of them. Put your comments about them here good or bad. Lets get talking and maybe we can figure out where we can better these sexy beasts (if you can)

Ill start off. Well I find the bike an allround good perfomer. Nice suspension (sucks that the front has no adjustment) I dont seem to be knocked off line when entering or exiting corners and smooth at high speeds although can get real light and start to tank slap when doing over 130km/h when going over rises in the road.
The bike has nice power and for some strange reason starts pulling hard when getting around 14,000rpm to redline and by I mean strange because the power curve (on dyno sheets and factory specs) curves off at 16,000rpm but mind you redline is only 2,000rpm past that. The exup sure helps getting off the line as some 250cc you got to slip the clutch alot to get her moving.
They are pretty plain bikes and by this I mean not many features compared to ZXR and CBR's but that dosnt bother me because my FZR is only to learn on.
One stink thing is that there are only limted second hand parts in NZ. I am trying to find a right hand side fairing for my 3LN and having no such luck. Looks like I will have to buy from Aus and seen as they kicked our ass at the rugby I dont want to give them my money lol.
I have riden a ZXR250 and have to say YUKKKKKKKK stiff as a horny teenaged boy. And not very nice power ether. But im not putting it down just not my bike ill stay on Yamahas side of the fence.

I would rate it maybe 8 1/2 out of 10 na make that 9 gotta love the buzz of saying that it has a EXUP and Deltabox just like the R1's

Tell us about your FZRs

Wanted a good looking sportsbike that didn't come with the price tag that the CBR was demanding. And I like Yamaha.

Quite a nimble bike. But the seat could be more padded, especially on those long rides.

Sweet bike love the looks and the handling. Gear box kinda clunky but once you master it you can shift with out grinding the box.

Carburetors kinda funny, going up a steep hill the engine would die, Breaking from a fast past the carburettor would flood and die.

Over all i LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

lol

Well Shandu get the carbs balanced and tuned because if the owner before u touched them and didnt do it right that will be whats happnin. FZR carbs are very picky they have to be perfect to run right. Get them checked by a pro and that problem will go away. All Yammys box's are clunky its not bad just solid internals . If the seat is to thin go get some new foam put in there its dead cheap!!! Works too

Good to see nice feed back.

This is a design flaw with the fzr's - all models have this problem from the 250 to the 1000cc version. It has to do with how flat the carburators are with the cylinder heads. It should only occur on very steep hills and only if you let go of the throttle on the way (if you leave it fairly open the venturi effect which is what makes the fuel/air mix in the carbs and then into the chambers will continue, but once you let it subside you can have problems because there is not adequate force inside the engine to get the venturi effect going again). This is exacerbated if your carbs are running rich.

As for the stopping fast - this is quite common with any carburetored bike. Again running rich is one contribute, and ensuring the carbs ar adjusted properly will assist. But this may not be the only source of the problem. Also ensuring that you have an adequate idle speed (too low and this type of stalling becomes more frequent), and the other thing that can help is if you leave the throttle slightly open while stopping (you shouldn't need to do this last one - only necessary if you are running rich... like I am ...).

hehe

Oh ok good work Bozie lol.
These have never happend to me and I do a many stoppies and hard braking. I have also gone up very high hills (roads on hills) and never done that. I tune and clean my carbs all the time and have them set to the right specs. I dont know why mine hasnt. Maybe it comes down to the rider.

hi guys

i think the fzr is a great bike its better than the cbr anyday all i have problems with is my carbs when im ridin sometimes at 100kmh i just lose power and then it suddenly kicks back in ive had it looked at and they said theres nothin wrong with it but i think diffrent. when it loses power it starts to back fire and then it just kicks in again and all is gd after that anyways i rate it 9/10
