How to check cam chain tensioner

    Ok great news thanks for being helpful as always. Ill take off airbox and tank anyway because i want to have a good look at the thermostat housing area and all that business related to my dormant temp gauge.

    Ill post how it goes particularly for "FolCan" because mine was removed and freed up, but a few runs of the motor and it had jammed again causing the worrying clicking again.

    Im betting on a new tensioiner sorting out the problem.

    So I began the tensioner swap tonight and i think I found something very alarming.
    The piece that the tensioner pushes on appears to be shattered/broken!
    This i assume is the component that is between the tensioner and the chain itself.
    an inspection of the old tensioner appears to be fine.
    I tried pushing on this shattered bit and it didnt seem to want to move, so i guess this makes sense as to why the chain was loose yet the tensioner seems ok.

    I have attached some pictures and i hope for some help, I am not reassembling the bike untill i found out abit about this as i fear it could be quite bad. it seems i have been riding the bike around like this for some time. <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->
